I saw this movie for the first the other day and wow, what an amazing movie. The script was witty and intelligent, it was brutal and gritty and the story really sucked me in. I cared about all the characters. The twist around the end had me jerk forward in my chair. I don't get that effect with twists nowadays. All in all, the best detective thriller in recent times and definitely in my top 10 list.

    Anyone else seen it? Thoughts?

Hmmm...I know I have seen this movie. However my memory of this movie is not good. That is usually because I have not seen the movie in a long time, or I wasn't impressed. I guess I should dig the movie up and watch it.

Yes indeed. White and Exley were complete opposites, and it was a great achievement in the movie to have them friends fighting alongside each other to the death at the end. Guy Pearce was great as Exley. I really despised his snitching ways at the beginning but I was rooting for him at the end.

Read the original book by James Ellroy, infact if you enjoyed the film, read all 4 books in his LA Quartet, set in the 40's-50' LA crime scene.

    Brilliant film.

Pity about the ending though. It's the one thing that drags it down.
