    Default Most profitable provinces

    My name is King David,

this is my first post in the SS-forum.

Allthough I am still a peasant, because I don´t play SS at the moment and I never played MT2 (but Rome TR and BR). I am preparing myself with deep research, here in the SS-Forum and with literature from Osprey etc., for this special day, when I will have installed MT2 and SS.

I ask you which are the most profitable provinces?

    I appreciate your feedback.

All of the Settlements in Northern Italy are very profitable, like Florence, Milan, Venice, Genoa and Bologna.

Richest city in each region on the map (from own experience):
    - Western Europe: Paris
    - Central Europe: Frankfurt or Nuremberg
    - Italy: Venice or Milan
    - Eastern Europe: Novgorod and Kiev
    - Balkans: Constantinople

Not sure about the Middle East, Iberia, Caucasus, etc. since I havn't captured these parts yet in a campaign.

generally speaking the cities with a large base of people, trading goods and trade opportunities are the best. cities on the Mediterranean tend to make a lot of money (although i find the berber-sphere-of-influence tends not to be too great, due to lack of factions to trade w/and low population) but cities such as cairo, antioch and venice are great examples of this

cliffs: mediterranean coastal cities, high population centres and good trade opportunities

Milan's advantage is its a larger then average city from the get go. So it's a little easier to get developed up. Pity you can't turn it into a castle. I'd rather have it as a castle then Ancona. With Milan as a castle you'd have complete strategic control of Northern Italy. It's troops could support Genoa and Venice with relative ease once you get paved roads in place.

From Western Europe, from my experience, both London and Brugges have better income then Paris.

Nuremburg and Frankfurt have also about the same income and Venice just rules.

You can also get really good income in York and Aarhus

The Levanant.....The coastal strip from Gaza to Antioch is very rich once developed. Place an emphasis on Jerusalem & Antioch.

If you convert into a city, Palermo is one of the most profitable cities in the game... (SS6.1)

    I like marakesh(sp?)

Most western settlement of the moors, It has high population , port/mines and gold resource to boot.

I think York is the best western europe city. Starts quite bad but once its on par with paris/londons population it overtakes them with ease. Port+Mines is just win for any city.

Southern europe - Rome/Venice nothing else comes close. Milan may look pretty at the start but its outclassed later on.

Aqaba is an excellent earning city. Mines there can earn loads of cash plus it's also in a good spot for land and Red Sea trade incomes.

Later in the campaign it can finance two good stacks of troops if you have capital close and corruption isn't eating it too much.

Caffa (located on the northern peninsula in the black sea is just a village at game start) But it can become a huge economic powerhouse in late game. It was the capital of slavery in the medieval world, and its location close to the center of the black sea makes it a trade stop for all other cities along the black sea including constantinople.

Genoa, Venice, London, Constantinople, Rennes, Bruges, Antioch, Iconium, Jerusalem. Most capitals with sea trade are usually the biggest earners.

    Simple answer.

Any city with many connections. Get up the trade agreements you need to utilize the most of it.

One of my cities can go up by 1000 florins just by building a road. Which means it has alot of connections by land.

Palermo can make a lot of money once converted into a city, since it's right in the center of a lot of sea trade lanes + mines

Constantinople is ridiculous if you control all the settlements nearby, I once got 6000+ a turn from it

Actually if you control the Black Sea as your Private lake, your eyes will pop out of your head about Mid-Game at the revenue that can spew forth from the "Great City"...

Yes with good administrative governor it is circa 10000 to 15000 or even higher florins per turn. Most important is when U are playing Constantinople to have a master merchant guild ,game with guild is very easy even in VH/VH with latest patches.A lot of provinces a lot of best merchants a lot of rich sources in every ways. Now with around 20 merchants I recieve more gold than with farming and mining -both.

And that the way it is - Byzantine merchants rule medieval world
