Roman Names?
For my PTW mod, I want to change the Roman Senate to the Kingdom of Bosporus. I wanted to remove the Roman Names in descr_names and replace them with pontic name, but when I delete the Roman names, I get CTD's. I figured this is to do with the fact that some of the Roman names must be Senate exclusive. Does anyone have a quick way for me to find these names without trawling through hundreds of names, or is this the only way?

Re: Roman Names?
The only reason you would get CTDs by only removing the list in descr_names is if a character is still using a name on that removed list. For example in descr_strat for the faction or even as a rebel using the sub_faction romans_senate.
Try the Name verifier:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=85734
It will show what errors there are in your names files.

Re: Roman Names?
It was made for m2tw and so it`s posted in that section of the forum. But it works with rtw too. For whatever reason it doesn`t parse the descr_strat of vanilla RTRPE, but with every other mod I`ve tried it worked fine. It saves time when you try to find out what you`ve missed regarding the names.

Re: Roman Names?
One of the problems is it tells me that several names have characters that arent allowed, ie. Chloé, which is already in my default. What I did originally was to delete the whole senate section and replace it with Pontus, but when this failed, I simply overwrote the pontic names with the original Senate names from a backup.

Re: Roman Names?
Yes, quite a few female names in the vanilla RTW are written with an accent in descr_names.txt and without it in names.txt. Theoretically they could crash the game because I doubt the engine can relate one to the other. The validator at least sees them as different characters. I haven`t tested it to be sure though.
