Default Is there a reason for the Mughals not being playable?

They have dialogues and a campaign description, only thing missing is a victory condition, I also read that they were featured(not 100% certain this is true) on the Faction list on the offical Empire:TW site before the game was released, the Mughals were one of the factions I was looking most forward to play as, so my question is why were they ditched by CA as a playable faction?

You only got the 11 factions you start with, unless you edit the game and make the unplayable factions playable.

When I installed the game and saw that the Mughals were not playable I felt cheated, we already got 9 generic carbon-copy European factions, the Mughals with their swordsmen and pikemen would have added some much needed gameplay variation.

so far we only have 2 unique playable factions

    Maratha Confederacy
Ottoman Empire(sadly the Aladdin looking units ruin this faction)

The martha confederency is more or less the same as the mughal empire.

    No they are not...

First the Mughal Empire is muslims while the Maratha Confedarcy is Hindu,
besides the Maratha don't get cool looking islamic swordsmen like the one in my signature, They also have a lot other of unique units that the Maratha's don't have.

The only intelligible reason I can produce is that the Mughal Empire was waining. It was in the 1850s when it ended.

Maybe, and this is a big maybe, the developers were anti-Pakistan/Punjab.

,I can assure you that they were pretty damn different. One has to only look to what happend last February to see that their descendants are still proud of their own separate identity.

No no, I meant in the game of course They have very similar units, (the islamic swordsman are the exact same as hindu swordsman, even their stats) and they seem to have the same artillery and unit types overall.

Urdu/Punjabi? I say Punjabi since I think their capital was Lahore for a while, though they had capitals in Lahore, Delhi, Agra, and Kabul, though I think generally Urdu.

Or did you mean what voice in terms of sound bites they use on the campaign map?

They actually spoke Farsi in government, they never used Punjabi in government and Lahore was only the capital of the Mughal Empire for a pretty short period otherwise it was mostly in Agra prior to Shah Jahan.

Shah Jahan built a new capital in Delhi which he called Shahjahanabad which from his time onwards would be the Mughal capital until the Indian mutiny in 1857,so it was the capital in ETW's timframe not Akbarabad (Agra).

I think that it is time that I complete my Mughals for the VV forum, since there are a lot of misconceptions I need to clear up :hmmm:.

The court language for all the kings of the region from Medieval times until the arrival of the British was Persian. Even the Ottomans considered Farsi to be a language of class and culture.

Urdu is a combination of Turkish, Arabic, Persian, the regional languages of what is now Pakistan and elements of Sanskrit and was spoken mostly by the Mughal soldiers.
