Rise up! Rise up, O Ye Modders
And bring forth thy great ken of past battles,
Thy remembrance of great and sonorous struggles upon the boiling seas.
Take up Thou thy cudgel, thy great Board of Keys, wield Ye thy be'tailed and tailless Mice!
Hold forth with thy tablets of NotePad.
That, be it such a beautiful yet rough and new Game,
Nothing known on this Earth has greater need of Thee.
For as it is true that there is no other Game as perfect as this and these,
There is no greater need for thy talents than hereon need be plied.
And then, from the ripe fruit of thy giant Heads
Give color and force to this otherwise bleak and vanilla'ed World.
Forge Ye righteous images whose tint and guild make clear the Tomes and Legends of violent History.
Nor shall Ye tarry and delay to bring forth what Thou hath wrought,
That glorious visage of perceiv'ed reality, of those conjured battlements,
Those rising and raging seas,
The gaping maw which specters the vaulted door and naked gates to the undiscover'ed Country.
We beseech Thee,
All our hopes reside with Thee, for
Thou be oft given a Carbuncle,
And Ye hath made of it a charm and a gem of abiding beauty and wondrous glimmer
Make a'right those images whose erstwhile calm palette cry out for fair guidance and good correction.
Heed Thou not thy crooked critics whose shifting shades of Envy hath ne'er been greener.
Nor give Thee thy minions spare and grudging guidance
For, Thou knowest these fellows moan and beg for thy great and wise hand.
And, Thou knowest whence comes the true challenger,
It is Thee ... and Thine.
And when all is done and undone, we, who keep lit the bright Monitors - yea unto the very morning light -
Shall have naught save praise for Thee and thy humblest minions.
And verily, we shall sit a'stride our leather seats,
Upon our benumb'ed buns, and...
Play, O play on:
On again and again into that otherwise cold and darkest night.
And through the darkest moods and mirrors of future history,
We may and shall truly say that we had played such a game
As ne'er could have been image'ed by the wisest of our white-bearded grandfathers.
Rise up! Rise up, O Ye Modders!
We beseech Thee to make it so.
