Yes, there's been quite a lot of spam in the Thema Devia lately. It doesn't even taste good in food form... bleh...
when i registered myself in nov 2005, theme devia was not so spammy as now and i well remember it

Spamminess took off after the Mudpit and other discussion forums were separated from it in the Great CC Reorganisation of 2007. Whereas Mudpitters and the Ethos and VV crowd would pass through the TD to get to their subforums, and occasionally add their own contributions to the TD, after the reorganisation, the older DD crowd generally kept to the DD forums, and away from the TD.
Seneca had some ideas, but RL occupied his time and energy. When it was my turn to be head mod, I was more concerned with how the moderators developed than any grand plan for how the forum could be redone. Perhaps a Council of Peace, similar to the Council of War, could drum up some ideas and form a core of volunteers to help administer it, but my experience is that CC people are more prone to bickering and power struggles than is desirable (see the curail committees), so it's left to individual moderator initiatives and personal contacts to get things done instead.
I blame all of those ETW noobs who are invading our thema devia and taking all of our jobs and houses ...... and benefits ....

The joke wasn't that people from Poland and Romania sometimes can't speak/write English well, it was that conservative media outlets routinely blame them for a myriad of problems with the economy/law. It should be obvious that he doesn't actually agree with their views.
And if everyone had to label their jokes, wouldn't that kind of ruin them?
I would be more than happy to be a mod for the Thema Devia![]()
I think a backroom would far, far better suited than the Mudpit system we have now. Currently, I have no qualms with using nuclear power tothe Mudpit out of concrete existence, then setting up a forum for *delicate subjects* (prices, weather, politics et all) where moderators would have tight control on admission and prevent kiddos from spamming and flaming the place.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
- Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)
I would love to do away with threads like Word Association, Corrupt a Wish, 4 Word Story. Four words posts on a large scale like that are useless. I also dislike all those games where you make a post adding a point to a faction name and then subtract a point from a faction. Nothing but spam and just kind of stupid...
I don't know if there is much we can do however, perhaps maybe making a specific proposal that would forbid these types of thread, much like a babes thread isn't permitted I suppose.
