How do you force massive UI banners off?

I put the huge UI banners for land and naval on the display option "never" in the user interface panel but it doesn't do anything.

Does anyone know how to force them off?

theres an xml file that may be editable..hvnt tried myself

I'm pretty sure the option is in your preferences file in /username/appdata/roaming/the creative assembly/empire

Having the same problem here. Looks like it is controlled here:

/username/appdata/roaming/the creative assembly/empire/scripts/preferences.empire_script.

This entry:

ui_order_button_mode 2; # ui_order_button_mode <0|1|2>, Only applicable with minimised ui. 0 = always, 1 = slide on, 2 = never #

you have to change it in game, it won't work if you change it in the main menu. put everything back on always, start a battle and then change it

FYI, whenever I used the minimal UI the game didn't seem to care what my preference for seeing banners was, since they would always show. Ever since I went back to full UI it has remembered my preferences.

Just tossing that out there.
