you can choose different formations for different units, each entails a description.

platoon firing is when a company of 10 people in say a 60 men-group form a group and fire in "ripple" effect, so that the enemy is under constant fire

Its kind of like a mexican wave down the unit, it provides constant chunks of barrage compared to the constant but thin line firing. I prefer the line firing sp I delay the research of Platoon firing for some time, but the platoon firing can be very useful in certain situations though!

Quick Question: I researched platoon firing but none of my units are using it. They are sticking with rank fire. I can't see any button inbattle that says platoon fire (as there is one for fire and advance) so I'm assuming its unit specific? If so which ones are they?

It's an icon on the right under the Army tab on an army. I think you can only build one if there's a general in the army. It costs around 1500, and you must do it in a clear spot, not right on a coast or in the middle of a forest, or right next to a river, etc.

I've read that the only way to change governments is through a Revolution. You're given a choice of who to back when it occurs. So crank up the taxes and see what happens.

Default For those who completed RTI

I'm almost done and I have 2 questions.

I'm in the 1790s and I'm about to take 2 british islands in the Caribbean.

Once I take all 15 provinces, then what will happen? Will it keep all my cities and just continue the game? Or will it show another cutscene and revert me back to 1783 so I can do the test of time or whatever?

Also, for those who have kept on going with the americans, what did you do? Did you conquer the rest of America, did you go to europe, india, or wherever? I'm thinking of sending indiamen to the trade regions and invading london.

do a custom battle of one infantry unit using platoon firing against another unit of infantry using fire by rank and u will see that rank by fire is much better than platoon firing.

Default Re: Suggestions for Pirates, Trade and Assassins

It is odd the only way to get nations away from areas of trade is to declare war and sink their ships. A diplomatic option should be available.

Another diplomatic option that would be nice is asking a nation to declare war on or cease conflict with another.
