I have gotten the WSOD (white screen of death) twice for a game professionally made. $60 dollars might not be a big deal to you, but to others they want a fully functional game that they can just pop in and play. I'm so sick and tired of being a beta tester.

I disagree I think to complain does help...well at least if a dev actually cares enough about their product to read these threads. which I haven't heard of to many that do...

I'm saying we shouldn't lower our standards just because the game before had problems. At the rate the community is going, in about 10 years, we'll start accepting games still in alpha stage.

Do some of you guys even remember release of M2? I remember I got the game a day early and it took me weeks of playing to uncover all there were a lot!

Remember how the units would kinda of split up when chasing routers and run alongside them to the map edge without running any down?

Passive AI bug? You could theoretically kill entire stacks of enemies without them moving an inch using only archers?

Unusable pikemen that never seemed to get fixed properly? (at least it seemed that way for me)

'Shield bug': Need I say more about that little embarrassment?

ETW is much more polished than M2 was at release. Either some of you don't remember M2 at release or you just have the attention span of whiny kids...

BTW I don't remember any bugs from RTW release because I got it after gazillionth patches came out.

EDIT: And I haven't had a single crash and I get smooth performance.

ing sick and tired of seeing posts from someone who has some 800GTS or something that wasn't even top notch 2 years ago and sits here complaining about how "dudez i get some lag when I play on Ultra! Down with CA!"

Yeah M2TW was totally playable, especially during sieges when the AI would try to fit its entire army up one ladder and permanently drop your FPS to 1.

Or how the AI would just stand there and let you shoot them...or the family tree breaking...etc etc etc

I can play AOC on full res, but Empire lags.

And when i built large navy's and was ready to set them to sail, i went to harbor, clicked on ships and ctd. Sloops and brigs where find but the latest big ships i ctd each time.

And saw a few times, my advancing army fullstack gets attacked by 1 or 2 units while approaching a city, ofcourse i win, then the army in the town who didnt fight just runs off.

Its got s few rough edges (but a geme this complex will have)

Its got some annoying graphical bugs that should not have slipt through beta (DOF, dodgy AA)

Its actually however better than I was expecting.. Im very impressed and I say that very very few times when it comes to games software these days...

After I have played this game for 6 hours I can honestly say it didnt live up to my expection (witch was very high)

I hope the playable faction limit gets patched or modded soon.
I want to play as Denmark/Norway ;-(.

Gotta take back skåne and invade america.

Surely with some modding help this game will be a blast... as it is now I think it is kind of "meh" and it is not only because of the playable faction limit.

The units is not interesting enough etc.

Oh yeah. Terrible pathfinding :-/

I think there are many of us that is interested in getting a better empire total war game.

But the game dont look very modable :-(.

To help clear up the forum, so threads stay on the front page for longer, I'm going to start a series of general threads for common thread topics. Older threads will be left alone, or closed if they're no longer needed, but newer threads will be moved into these general threads.

This is the thread for criticising Empire: Total War. If you want to express your dislike of the game, do it here. However, despite this being a rant thread, there should be constructive criticism only. No CA bashing, as described below.

Dear TWC members,

we all share a certain affection for the TW series and this website is mostly populated by people that work hard on different levels from modding to moderating, from informing us to maintaining the servers with the simple purpose to enhance our experience from the games and share our experience. And all that on a purely voluntary basis without any reward apart from the pleasure taken in a job well done.

So, it is sad and disappointing when members are constantly subjected to abuse by posters who have crossed the not so fine line between constructive criticism and unadulterated bashing. We aim to keep an open mind and an open forum for all opinions; however the type of mindless attacks towards the staff, the members and the representatives of the game's producers, that are witnessed every time a new game in the series is about to be published, will not be tolerated and the ToS will be strictly enforced.

Please help us to keep all this fun and simple.

In multiplayer, why is it you can't use all the tech in campaign?

Are we doomed forever to do quickbattles with first line infantry volleys?
