    Default Why am I gleeful?

If we are to believe the nightly news, the world is crumbling around us. Layoffs, banruptcies, foreclosures, bank failures are everywhere. National governments are swimming in red ink, stock markets are tanking. It's the worst thing since the Great Depression, maybe worse. Confrontation looms between the The West and China and the Middle East.

Yet I look at all of this and giggle. Now my conscience mind wishes no one ill. I want peace and prosperity for all. Yet my first reaction to any bad news is a giggle and a sense of optimism.

What the hell is wrong with me?

You aren't paying your own rent yet, so it's not really affecting you?

No, what I meant was: if the crisis is personally affecting you (which it almost certainly does, if you have a job and have to pay for your own living), but you're still gleeful, you probably just like to suffer.

No the crisis is not effecting me at all, things have never been so good, even exceeding both my expections and aspirations. While that is a good reason to be happy, that is not the source of my glee, I'm sure.

I think the source is that this crisis represents an opportunity for new ideas and people, chance to renew human liberty and throw off the schackles of communalism and capitalize on self worth.

    Who else feels the same?

You like watching the foibles of our hubris collapse. Nothing wrong with that.

Maybe you have a sort of Nietzchean love of seeing values and presupositions collapse and such situations allow you to express more definitively your will to power. Who can say...

yes it is a oxymoron just like a Marxist paradise primarily because when you go to far to the left or the right you end up in a state that just sucks. to far to the right you get the gilded age, to far to the left your left with North Korea. Both end up with everything

(of course there are those who claim both have never been "properly implemented", aka I'm just going to ignore all the evidence and keep supporting my ideas for an extreme state even if it will hurt the vast majority).

Every ideology, religion and economic system has tried to reconcile our humanity with our world.

Capitalism to reward it, communism to obstruct it, and God to cushion it.

    Let's keep evolving.

Maybe you subconsciously know that any global economic depression will benefit you.

I think it's positive as well.

Anything that shakes the economy is sure to shake faith in government.

    And the upcoming inflation?

Well, that's gonna shake faith in Obama, and socialism in general.

    I love it.
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State. - James Madison

Or amke people have less faith in themselves and boost socialism. As they keep looking at people who are wealthy and wanting their cash but to do nothing for it.

    I don't think it will.

    See, that's the sad thing.

This time that's not even what we're doing.

We're using money that doesn't exist. Or as I call it, Obama's Magic Money!

I fell the same as you optimistic but i think for different reasons instability will force political and economical changes the longer the period of instability the more drastic the changes so i kinda see the current climate as an opportunity.
