    Default Scythed chariots

    Hi,
am playing TSE campaign again. Now do I train up scythed chariots? When I have used them before they attack well, take out a few enemy and then go crazy - killing more of my men than the enemy.

Should I just stick to bog standard cavalry? Or is there merc chariots for hire?

    Cheers in advance.

In my Seleucid campaign I played a while ago I won with ease using scythed chariots. Phalanxes can be a problem but you can annihilate multiple Roman armies with them and get heroic victories all the time. Roman controlled territories were pretty much a pushover using scythed chariots. It was almost too easy.

Use autoresolve. They are massively overpowered in it.

Once you get cataphracts and Companions, they should be fully enough to ensure you regular victories. Scythed chariots are a gamble. They either work excellently, or worse than you could imagine. But like Seli said, auto-resolve makes them very strong.

auto resolve is no fun. if properly used scytheds can be good, but Cataphracts are a little better against armored ppl like romans and hoplites, and dont go crazy.

He's asking for trained up scythie's, not for the ones with happy faces and that stuff. And scythes become a lot more fun when they don't run away screaming from a couple of flaming arrows.

"Happy faces and that stuff"? I think I'm missing something here. Can you clarify?

They can be useless when they run amok but are great on AI as was mentioned and are very destructive/demoralising when used correctly. They also get xp. quickly, but maybe that's just me

scyhted chariots are incredibly strong. they are the bane of melee cavalry. they die fairly easily and can sometimes screw over your army so watch out and dont hesitate to kill them if they run amok

Not really... Scythed Chariots will beat a unit of Cataphracts if they're used properly.

I've seen normal heavy chariots eating catas for breakfast, unless you swamp them I doubt that you can beat them without casualty rates of 70-80%, which considering the price-differences is more of a blow to you than your opponent.

You seriously dont have a clue about cataphract tactics then. when you know the right tactic, 6 scythed chaz vs 6 g defense cata becomes a one sided fight which the cav wins. and sadly for your chariots i use gg cats.

katatanks get chewed up by scythed chariots...its pitiful, i just used 1 unit of scythes to decimate 4 units of cavalry including katatanks and generals.

Chariots are too overwhelming especially when i play as romans, 4 units destroyed 11 units of legionaries

Wow, that was a tad bit childish War lord. I know you don't like Max, but don't you think posting childish remarks like that will only fuel the fire and cause more nonsensical posting.
