Okay, I see that this was moved to technical help, but that didn't seem to do much to actually get this chap any help.

Just the same, I'll post my issue here to respect the sensitivity that the modderators have to opening new threads (although my subject title of "Cherokees crash the game??" would probably be more appropriate.

At any rate, here's the deal. I've taken Florida, Georgia and Kiatuck Territory from the Cherokees without issue. They are down to their final settlement of Cherokee Territory. It's guarded by some VERY battered troops, mob troops, and a general. The cherokees also have a sizable army, led by a general, off in the east of Kaintuck territory. Here's the issue:

I attack Chicasa (capital of Cherokee Territory), autoresolve and win... and the game crashes to desktop. I've tried this several times. I also tried using diplmacy with them and every time I send an offer, the game crashes to desktop.

Anyone seen this before and/or have a suggestion? Cherokees in particular seemed to be bugged in my game at this point, and this seems likely to be a game breaker!

This is interesting... I searched this forum just for the word Cherokee, and found this post. It seems like the Cherokees are a buggy faction. Bummer....

EDIT: So I thought, surely there's a log file I can post in conjunction with this crash. So I went to The Create Assembly\Empire\Logs directory in the appdata directory of my user profile, and it's just an empty directory. Anyone know where log files are written to when this game crashes?

Continuing my technical self help, mostly for the therapeutic value, I suppose, not because I expect that anyone else can help me (except CA, but that's another matter).

I managed to find a save game prior to the Cherokee bugging out on me. This time I attacked Cherokee Territory first, not Kiatuck. I hit auto resolve (you don't expect me to actually play these battles out do you) and managed to win. As soon as I won this battle, my game became bugged. If I attempt diplomacy and request peace, the game crashes when I submit my request. I can perform other diplomatic actions just fine, but requesting peace crashes me. After this crash, just for fun, I attempted to attack the remnants of the Kiatuck capitol, won the battle with auto resolve, and game the game crashed, as I expected it would.

I think that the issue MAY have something to do with how close to together these settlements are. When I attack Cherokee Territory, the army garrisoned in the Kiatuck capital comes into the fight as reinforcements, and vise versa. As soon as I win such a battle (with reinforcements that were garrisoned in the neighboring settlement, my game is bugged. If, on the other hand, even after my game is bugged, I attack the final Cherokee army that is off the east of Kiatuck, out of reach of it's capital, I do not get a crash when I win the battle.

Hopefully CA reads these threads, as I believe I just figured out a repeatable crash bug for them. Thanks, self, for all the technical support!

I guess, though, that I can cross my fingers and just try to continue my campaign. As long as I have Cherokee territory, I should still be able to complete the mission to get the 13 colonies.... just need to get New France.

no this is the game doing something that it shouldn't do, and as such it crashes, most of the times this is solved by loading a earlier save and avoiding doing the moviment that lead you to that crash, if that don't work start a new campaign , this is not something that is from this game, all the games in the series had this
