    Default Modding

Please excuse me if this sounds a little ignorant but i am new to this whole part of ETW and just would like to ask a few questions to any kind fellow willing to answer.

So people can make add ons that will be able to change units and buildings, movement speeds etc?

Question 2 is it possible then for a modder to make entirely new units? (i ask this because people are moaning about variety and also because i wonder wouldnt the game makers try and prevent this)

Question 3 Will there be a way to transfer campaign to online so you can play other people at this and if so how will it work without you both playing for 72 hours straight so to get it finished (maybe)?

Following from that, how many people will be playing online campaign together because surely this envolves immense pcs and will present laggy issue

Question 4 or 5 If you cant make new units, is it possible to change each factions units statistics, maybe this will make units unique as French could have super hussars grendarmes whilst Spain could have uber pike. Im not sure if this is already the case.

Finally if these modifications are all done, it will make the game superb (its already great imo) and please let me know where to get this from.

P.S the whole modding community deserve plenty of praise so i just want to say a big thankyou to anyone involved in it and if they need any help perhaps researching unit statistics in the century etc be it scrolling through websites that deal with 18th century history or renting authetic costumes (lol unlikely) then let me know.

    1. At the moment, people can't add/change much because all of the important files are encoded in .lua/luac and .db files that are unreadable without special editors. A converter for .db files has apparently already been developed by the community, but I haven't tried it yet.

    2. Not yet, that requires two things: A: a 3d program such as 3ds Max (which is what CA used, and a few people here, myself included, also use it) and B: it would require the exporter CA created, and they said they won't be releasing the current in-house tools they used because they aren't 'user friendly', apparently. They said we'll be getting some mod tools 'soon', but don't hold your breath for an exporter, it'd be great if they gave us one though, I'm hoping they will. (they did with Rome/Medieval 2)

    3. There's no need to, since CA will be releasing the Multi-player Campaign via a patch through Steam when it's ready to be released.

    4. Not yet, since all the files that contain the stats are encoded, as i mentioned in point 1.

    Barbossa:
1: what converter are you talking about for db files?
4: actually it is possible to change many unit and weapon statistics. I have tested changing accuracy, reload skill, ammunition, range, melee, defense, and charge bonus. There are other values but I don't know what they correspond with.
