Icon13 Installing Kingdoms & Patch problems

Howdy. Have done a fair bit of searching online, but it has yielded no results.

I'm running Vista (unfortunately.) and when I try to install Kingdoms onto my 1.0 version of M2TW I'm told it can not install the expansion unless the game is 1.2. So I try to install version 1.2, "Can not launch the patch process."

I've reinstalled several times, I can not remove the SEGA folder because Vista is gay, so my current installation is in a different folder, the SEGA folder is just sitting there, empty. What is the significance of the SEGA folder in this case?

When I try to apply the 1.2 patch directly, it tells me there is no version of M2TW installed.

    Any ideas?

Tells me how much you don't know about Vista. Also tells me you don't have administrative rights to your computer. Am I right so far? If you don't get rid of the Sega folder you're not updating so you're stuck at square one.

Rule number one in Vista handling this game, disable the UAC. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/ is the way to do it.
Rule number two is unhide all hidden and system files. That option is in your folder options in your control panel.
Rule number three is delete anything that says Sega including in the *\users\*\virtual sore folder. This one is hidden and you have to unhide it.
Run a registry cleaner. Anything left in there that smells Sega or Medieval2 will ruin your install. http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_...ry_cleaner.htm is a good free one.
Reboot to get the garbage out of ram.
Now try to install the game. Medieval2, then Kingdoms. Nothing else is needed.

    Good luck.

    I see.
You're right, I don't know much about Vista other than that it sucks. Have admin rights, though.

Anyways, that sounds like a lot of work and I just discovered E:TW is out, so I'll just grab that instead. Thanks a lot!
