Default Steam patches - will they be a problem?

Since Steam will now pretty much update the game before every start - won't that be a problem for modders? I realize that we know very little about how moddable the game is right now, but seeing as many completed RTW and M2TW mods use an older version than "Final", I can see this as being a bit of a problem. What do the experienced modders think about this?

Out of curiosity, why did those mods "use" an older version?

A lot of the mods required many small changed in lots of files, when these files were updated by a patch many mods were never carried over (too much repetition).

I inmagine this will be quite an issue till CA stops patching.
Read a napoleonic first hand account of a Hessian serving under the french flag

Athenians: For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretenses - either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed;.......... since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Or the easiest thing CA can do is add Mod suppport in one of the patches, like Petroglyph did with Star Wars: Empire At War, with the 1.4 patch for that game, Petroglyph added a Mods folder in the game's main directory, allowing the support of mods, each mod went inside it's own folder IN the Mods folder, then all you needed was either a .bat file containing the mod's path, or a mod launcher.

Kingdoms had a mod folder so this game will have one it is common place these days really.

My issue with the patch is I wanted to have fun with the current scenarios but the patch.pack overwrites them and you can't unpack them. So currently I have Venice fighting the Turks in the first Jamestown battle and sometime today I will make Boston a thrilling fight between Savoia and those Austrian bastages. `
