    Icon5 Blue screen of death

I'm drawing a blank. I'm not horribly computer saavy, but I did manage to update my display driver and I'm still getting a blue screen of death on the very first title screen.

    CPU :T7200 Duo @ 2.0Ghz
    HD: MHV2200 @ 4200rpm (200GB)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS
    2GB RAM
Am I just grossly outclassed as far as this game goes? I manage Dawn of War II, Sins of a Solar Empire, MDTWII and a bunch of others without any trouble, I've never had one just completely reject my computer before.

did you try doing what i say here?

also check for more drivers see if you ahve new sound ones check for windows uopdates amnd then defrag your hard drive as bad fragmentation can sometimes cause crashes. Alos write down the error on the BsoD and post it here. Whatever it says will help us find out whats causing your problem.

same problem for me. i have a disk copy of ETW. it installed and started fine. even the starting video played alright. got to the first menus and decided to check the video options; only low and med. were displayed for my system: Pentium 4 CPU 3.60 GHZ, 2GB RAM, running windows XP, 512 MB GeForce video card (a couple years old). Fine, i thought: i'll try the 'medium' setting. Did that and as soon as I chose 'apply', the screen turned to the blue screen of death described here... The only option was to minimize the game and kill it in the 'taks manager'.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Thinking, that should fix the video setting problem if that was the cause. Nope, now I get the 'blue screen of death' right away: no intro video, no menu... Any ideas? BTW, I have ordered a new rig, but that's due to arrive in a month... I wish, I could test the game on low settings until then.

Is there a config file somewhere where I could change the video settings back to low? I could not find it in the ETW folder.

what operating system you use...?? if its vista go to C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

and delete that file in the scripts folder.......don't worry the game will make another one, then restrt the game...if you don't want to delete that file just move it to desktop.

Guys, wondering if anyone here can please please help me out.

I'm having the similar problem with the Blue Screen on Empires, and found on another forum where someone claimed to have sorted it with a similar vid card to mine (Ge Force Go 7400 video card, sony vaio). I include the quote below. I replied to the message and forum if anyone could tell me what 'disabling the physx' means, but there was no response. I'm just hoping there may be someone here who knows (and actually could take a couple of seconds to answer?) Don't know if it will help, but I'll try anything.... Thanks, would be really appreciated - again, see post below:

I had not downgraded my drivers and am running the latest nvidia drivers and was getting a BSOD during the tutorial in the game. After redownloading the demo, and reinstalling my drivers I couldn't figure out why it was happening considering my temps were in the 70's. Well I just disabled the physx inside of the nvidia control panel and now it is running fine! Just an FYI to anyone getting blue screens you might want to try this!
