    Default A small question

First off, installed the mod last night and am loving it, firstly I tried the indepdent greeks on vh/vh and struggled along for a while, I was very very poor and just decided to off my colonies in northern europe (The place sucks anyway ) Was rather surprised to see Epirot allied with Rome as well xD
aaand just started myself a Roman campaign now.

My question is regarding the triggered event at the start of the game, you press Show Me How and it takes me to a battle where it's one roman general and a group of equites versus Phyyric on his own. Needless to say I slaughtered him and that was that. Now it says somewhere round here that this little triggered event is vital to how the imperial campaign progresses, im just curious as to A) what exactly that entails and B) If its working properly...?

no it does not work properly. The script should give both Decius Mus and Pyrrhus a full stack army, so they can fight the battle of Asculum. Obviously, winning or losing it means a lot, because if you are roman and your whole army gets slaughtered, you will need some time to recruit another army and in that time Pyrrhus might cause some great damage!

and by the way, at the campaign start you shouldn't be asked to click anything. The script should start automatically, give the two generals a full army and then engage battle...

so maybe your installation is corrupt, I don't know...

it SHOULD be that but I can't tell it for sure...try first reinstalling the mod (with the latest patches and fixes) and if the problem persists then redownloading it...

Make sure you install the patches in the correct order, since they overwrite newer files. First 0.92, then 0,94 and then the hotfix 0.941. The addon 0.95 only affects ground textures and music.

The bug of the army not appearing can be due to Alexander features in BI campaign files. So I presume you are playing on BI and stumbled upon an old bug in 0.94. Just install the patches and all should be well.

You need to install them in the right order to the ...\Rome - Total War\ folder. The setup should provide the correct directory by default, so just install the patches without messing around with the directories.

Ah well, it dident for some reason but its all working fine now.
Just having funreplaying Ascalum over and over again as the Romans, need to get myself used to fighting all these damn Pikes xD
Best I can seem to do on VH/Hard so far is about 280 men left on my side and 900 left on theirs with Pyrrhus dead and Decius, along with the rest of my army, fled the field. Anyone know a decent strategy?

Spread out your battleline and gaps will appear in the phalanx... Perfect use of the Roman manipular (checker) formation.

the phalanx is almost unbeatable on its front, but attack it on the flanks and on the rear and it will be a butchery!!

Now that bit -is- obvious It's just a matter of dealing with those pesky Greek Cav and the Hopolites on the flanks first.

well you say that but I had a pezhetairoi unit hit on each flank with well experienced hoplites and they just refused to die, they had 3 bronze chevrons and silver weapon and armour. With such bonuses they put up such a fight, lost my city as well

That would make the campaign even more exciting for it delays your inevitable expansion.
Just remember: Pyrrhus may be having a military, he has no economy or any decent war machine. The new forces he's training are way inferior to the ones you have been fighting so far. Should Pyrrhus advance, he is even likely to create a buffer between you and the Roman Rebels (which is one less potential opponent). Try to conserve whats left of your army, give ground if needs be and make this green headache pay.

the pyrhic campaign is decided within the first 10 turns. try to expand along the back of the boot or ship your troops back to macedonia and conquer greece.
