Default demo doesnt work, makes sense to buy full game?

I downloaded the Empire demo with Steam to check how my system handles the game. But when I try to play the demo the cursos is showing something is loading on the black screen with the copyright-info and then it changes to the yellow cursor but the black loading screen doesnt disappear. Will this happen in the full game too?

    My specs are:
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E4700 @ 2.60 Ghz (2 CPU's), ~2,6Ghz
    2GB RAM
    Windows Vista Ultimate
Geforce 8400 GS (1268 MB memory)

don't worry, this is just a problem with the demo. Give it a while, and I mean a WHILE, go make some food or something, then come back and it will have loaded. Then you can enjoy another painfully slow wait once you wanna play a battle.

But seriously though, as far as I have heard the load time issues are all sorted out, so yeah don't worry about that. If you really are worried about it then do this:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=228790

You shouldn't have a problem with the main game as your well above min specs.

Thank you so much guys! I wasnt really certain and I didnt wanna take the risk to waste 60 euro (Empire SE). Now I will definitely buy the game.

His gfx card is really weak, try not to give wrong information, beeing in series of 8xxx doesnt make it good card, 8400 is a "low end" card and will no doubt make the game run for you like a 3 legged dog, sorry to spoil it for you.
And is there a typo in OP saying you have 1268vram, if its 128 then this will make it even worse.

Your CPU is good, RAM should be enough tho i also recomend +1GB RAM since your on Vista Ultimate

I have the same problem, however the menu actually loads but the screen stays black. I can hear the opening cinematic, and the music at the menu but no picture. Will this be fixed by waiting for it?

Yeah, the 8400 is a low end card, not really a card for games.
Try getting something better, if you really don't want to spend that much but want to play at med settings the game worked with these cards:
8500GT 256mb, HD2600XT 256mb, they all cost like 50-60 euroes, well in stores close to my house.
If you ahve the money get the HD4870 or 9800GT

The 8400GS is basically just an 8500GT but with only a 64-bit memory bus (6.4GB/s) vs the 8500GT's 128-bit memory bus (12.8GB/s). All of the other specs remain the same.
For gaming i wouldnt recomend anyone low end card, this means for 8xxx series look 8600 and up. As for ATI same year its 3850. But they both "old" cards by todays standards.

Best money/performance atm seems to be ATI 4870/4850 since they dropped price couple of weeks a go and are really cheap (i bought my 512MB for 201 euros before christmas and now you get 1GB version for 144euros where i live, might be bit different prices elsewhere) Dont think nvidia can offer the same price/performance atm. even tho their cards are faster.
