Default Texture problem with units [SOLVED]

hmm, anyone else facing a texture issue with infantry?

as you can see, they look very 'meaty'. : P

i'm using a 8800 GTS; wonder if anyone else is getting this?
i've already restarted the computer and changed the graphic options around.
i am using the 182.?? drivers released on Feb 18.

edit: also verified file integrity of the game through steam, also dl'd new march 3rd drivers from nvidia.

It looks like drivers problem. Try other nvidia drivers. Newest are not always the best.

Did you d/l via Steam? If so then you are mssing texture files

Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common and rightclick on empire total war. If the size isn't 15gb then start up steam again and go to my games. If I'm not mistaken the game will automatically start updating. If so double click on empire total war bar and a new small window will open with your progress status. Wait until the progressbar of the smaller window has reached 100% (don't take notice of the empire total war bar because that progress will appear to have finished earlier but that doesn't mean it's acutally finished d/l-ing).

    Good Luck!

you were right. after i posted this thread, i went to sleep and left Steam running. before, i had noticed that ETW would allow me to start it but for some reason was not fully 100% and kept updating. i could say it's my fault but why would they allow you to start the game if you were missing files (very important ones at that)? anyhow, now it's fully 100% and i tried a custom battle, the skins are there!

How long did you have to wait? Mine seems to be stuck at 100% for quite awhile....
