    Default Command Stars...again.

    Hey fellas,

I've seen a lot of talk about the issue with human character generals not receiving command stars, or more specifically spontaneously losing command stars. I understand the authors' purpose with this feature, but it just doesn't sit well with me. I know it's completely superficial to be hung up on having to see that nice string of stars, but what can I say, I like the bling.

But really, I love all the other added traits that contribute to more of a role playing element, but the command stars dropping off for no reason (other than balance purposes) just doesn't seem to sync with all the other great stuff.

So to the purpose of my post...I've searched posts and seen mention that the command stars being taken from human characters is a hidden trait/trigger. Is this accurate? If so, I assume it's in the export_descr_character_traits file, but I've had no luck locating it. Can anyone tell me if I'm right to be looking here and/or if you can tell me the precise verbiage to search for. I'd like to go ahead and nix that line, if that's possible.

Bye the way, I think everything else in this mod is fantastic, really exceptional work fellas.
Oh, and I'm using SS 6 with patch 6.2 RC4.

    Cheers!

are you using either byg3 or byg4?

if you are and you have low faction zeal (from having lots of provinces) generals lose some command and loyalty as well. not much you can do about it either as far as i know...

Also after you finish a battle you may see your stars drop as they were only inflated for the battle to take into account certain traits e.g. "likes the dark". So for this trait your general will gain +1 star before the battle and then loose it after the battle (but don't worry it will come back at your next night fight, just not for day fights).

    What is a RR/RC??

This command star issue has bugged me no end too. I love SS but when my 55 year old Conquering Hero Born Leader with 4 crusades and like +15 command stars throgh traits and ancillaries somehow suddenly has only 2 stars and comes up against a Byzantine empire 18 year old with 9 stars....... I get annoyed.

I only play this game for the roleplay element.

Always a way to keep that command over 5 stars, but you'll have to find it out for yourself =P.

Surely we shouldnt have to figure out how to keep command stars. That dosent fit with the concept of the game.

ive never been able to keep command stars above 7 and getting to 8 seems to require a hell of a lot of battles.

Playing England i always kill scotland with william the conquerer he starts with 4 command stars i beleive. I take York>Edinburgh>Aberdeen>Inverness in that order and wiping out scotland to boot.

During that time my command stars drop from 4 to 2 or 0. I almost always get a -25% movement trait along with some other really crappy traits that give -1 hp and +1 unrest.

Essentially killing rebels and destroying another faction plus taking 4 new provinces makes my general twice as bad as he was when i started.

How exactly am i suppose to find out why that is happening because it dosent make any sense.

He should get at least 4 command stars and some dread and hp traits. Not the oposite.

Please explain why that is Viscule . You seem to be the all knowing

Thanks fellas. I think I'm going to try using the RR/RC options and give that a whirl...I read on some of the other posts on this topic that using RR/RC yields normal command star behavior. I'll give it a shot and see what happens--was planing on trying out RR anyway.

The wiseguy act without pointing out where mr. wiseguy got all his knowledge by reading a simple text tends to get old kinda quickly....i guess some people boost their ego behaving like this though >_<.

No not really. I've just read countless posts that can be answered quite easily by simply reading about the mod before installing it.

I'm not a "mr.wiseguy", one person branded me as one.

    Next time, dont insult me.

Sure, I didn't mean to start a fight or anything, I just got kind of anoyed by the somewhat elitist stand people tend to take in the last few discussions i've seen here(for example, the one about the pikemen). I agree alot of things can be found in manuals but for instance; last night i spent some time reading the ''manual'' of byg's mods and i think i've spend atleast an hour in there!

So honestly, just give the people that don't seem to knowitall(or maybe sometimes just seem to know very little ), a break, afterall we've all been in that position right?

So now; where can one find that exact part of the forumtopic/manual/readme where it gives a good description of the hidden traits etc? Altho due to the human nature to exploit its intellegence, I'm not really sure wether I want to know the entire system behind it..it's nice to give the poor ai a break sometimes !

I think this is one of the friendliest and most helpful communities for a video game I've ever been a part of. I have yet to feel obliged to offer someone this t-shirt as I have on many other video game forums.

Personally i kind of miss the incredibly stupid people we usually see in game forums, they are always so fun to troll.

This forum is quite civil though, even when people disagree with your opinions, rarely i find do they attack them, if you state your reasons and use common sense.

Also, on the topic of command stars, don't really know what your problem is, my byzantine emperor and his son are both at 5 stars, and they've been like that for most of my campaign. (rather boring lot, the Komeneans seem, they are either born brilliant with high everything or they turn out to be complete vegetables, hmm, on second thought that's probably quite accurate)

Ive never used BYG so thats never been an issue.

And secondly i know how generals work and about the traits. I always fight outnumbered as much as possible etc..

What i dont understand is how a general can have 4 stars. You click end turn and now he has 2 command stars and he hasnt moved or done anything whatsoever.

This happens all the time in my campaigns. Generals gain stars , then suddenly they just disapear into thin air simply by ending a turn.

I tottaly understand loosing command stars when u lose battles , fight with great odds on your side etc etc But loosing stars just for ending your turn dosent add up atall.

Is there some kinda of Balance cap that resets your stars or something if they get too high?

Something your SS is missing perhaps? Just ending your turn you shouldnt lose any stars.
