    Default Do Rebels Recruit Mercenaries?

    Hi,

For my mod HEGEMON I wanted to implement a new rebel system. A mercenary pool will be set up for the slave faction. Random rebels will just spawn a bodyguard unit. Hopefully the rebel general will recruit mercenaries to bulk up his army. This way we will have dynamic rebel spawns.

Does anyone know if rebel characters will recruit mercenaries?

Also I have tried to make rebels more active by giving them an active ai (default). However they still like to just sit in their settlements. Does anyone know how to make active rebels? It would be awesome if rebel spawns would aggregate into massive hordes if left unchecked and went on mass settlement sackings.

You might get some pointers from Xeryx, he has been working on the AI for ages.

    Interesting question.

Ownership of mercenary units in slave by default (well in the SS6.2 EDU anyway) so I don't know if a rebel general would be able to recruit units which they already "own"? (no reason why they couldn't, I just don't know if they would show up in rebel turns as potentially recruitable.)

You'll need to make sure the rebel faction has plenty of money, usually they have insufficient to do much, so include in the money script a hefty wodge each turn when testing so they have more than they can otherwise spend.

Can't say I've ever noticed rebel generals recruiting mercs, but then they usually start in settlements and don't get replaced when they die. Spawned rebel armies more frequently don't have a general to do any recruiting.

Let us know how you get on!!
