    Default AMD Athlon Support?

Several members on both the official CA forums and on here are both reporting this:

This is what we see when we load up the Empire: Total War Demo. We all have one thing in common -- the ancient AMD Athlon 2600+ (or similar) processor.

White lines all over the place. Big ones, small ones, some as big of a head! Enough to give one an epileptic seizure. It will not change no matter how long you let the game run. Give it 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 120 minutes -- it doesn't matter. It will not even show you the main menu. You are stuck with the seizure-inducing flashing lights of DOOM.

Discussion of it in the official 'Demo Gameplay Glitches/Bugs/Annoyances etc.' thread has produced no sort of answer as to why this is happening or if CA intends to fix it.

Our drivers are current, and we have DirectX updated.

Will this persist into the release of Empire: Total War this week or is it an error exclusive to the demo? This brings back memories of the MTW2's initial release of its demo and supporting solely SSE2 motherboards.

    Someone help us!

I can never work out the how AMD calculate speeds but Im sure (I think its 2.08 - 2.13) it works out at less than 2.4 which is the min req on a sngle core processor.. what motherboard is it on

ABIT AN7. People with all different sorts of motherboards and graphics cards are reporting this. They just all have the same processor

I don't care if the game looks like crap; I just want to see if I can run it. If worst comes to worst I can run it on a family member's PC.

It's either upgrade or weep as far as CA is concerned.

This is a graphical issue. I've never seen something like this be caused by a specific processor or one that doesn't meet system requirements.

Not only will it not pass the processor part..There isnt really a card with enough bandwith (due to the AGP) to ever run the game with that processor.. New system needed completely Im a afraid..

R4nd0m, several people are experiencing this. Some people have 8600GS, 7800, 6200, etc. and they all have at least 256MB of VRAM. It's the processor that links us.

But if all those people have AGP versions of the card it two bottlenecks on top of each other... The card and the processor (which both dont reach min)..

To be fair Nvidia and ATi should never have been allowed to call the AGP versions of the cards by the same names and numbers as it gives the impression its the same as a PCI e version

You may get away with an AGP card (on low) but only with a much faster processor taking the strain

Okay guys, let's try to focus on this. I'm not asking if you think I should upgrade. I am asking ONLY if the AMD ATHLON 2600+ and its ilk will be supported.
