Default Whats the deal with 6.2 and some other sub-mods?

So before anyone asks, Yes, I have used the search. I've put off a good 2 hours reading this forum waiting for SS to download and install again since I was last here. I saw 6.2 in the sub mods, but was confused greatly. One for there were WAY to many abbreviations, which I found to be Real Recruitment, Real Combat, and BYG, not sure what that is.

Either way could someone explain to me that is this 6.2 a sub mod or an actual patch, and if they would be so kind as to explain the rest of the sub mods, compatibility, playability and such? I heard that RR and RC were good but I could not learn too much on compatability.:hmmm:

    Thank you for your time,
    Robert.

6.2 is an official patch but it's not being developed by KingKong (but it has his blessing).

RealCombat (RC) changes unit stats to be more realistic and is based on actual performance of medieval weapons.

RealRecruitment (RR) changes unit recruitment to be more historically accurate. No longer will you be getting full plate mail in the 12th century for example.

Byg's Grim Reality adds a lot of depth to the gameplay but it might not be to everyone's liking. Your best bet is to check the info in the first post in the Byg's mod thread in the submods forum. There is also a PDF guide to it at the bottom of the first post.

    Thank you so far.

Though I cannot understand it fully, the 6.2 patch says no sub mods. Does this include RR and RC? Also, would you recommended 6.2? From what I read it makes more back stabbings and other misdemeanors.

The latest version of RR/RC includes the latest release of 6.2. I personally haven't used 6.2 (too busy modding to actually play the damn game ) but from everything I've read it fixes a lot of little bugs and adds in some nice features (i.e. Mongols that will actually scare you )

Then I guess I will install RR/RC! I know the feeling of not playing enough as well...If you ever played SWBF2 and got mods for it I was the lead designer on the EBM mod...So many crashes *shivers*

If you want the CBUR (byzz) mod, I don't think it compatible with 6.2 yet. I run SS6.1 with CBUR and Crimson 4.2 and never had a crash.

CBUR will be included in a future release of 6.2. It is included though in the latest RR/RC.

Instead of making a new topic im posting this here. Everytime I start and early campaign match the game crashes on laod of freezes in load.

I downloaded everything you said, Ceaser. Now your saying that BYZ is NOT compatible with 6.2 but the latest of RR/RC comes with it. If BYZ is included with RR/RC than that must be my problem.

Im not sure....but this is very irritating after waiting 4 hours for DL and instalation.

By BYZ, do you mean BYG (i.e. Byg's Grim Reality)?

You see now I am just incredibly confused by the acronyms. if I downloaded RR/RC which included a sub mod of any kind wouldn't that crash 6.2? Weather it was BYZ or BYG, which I did not realize there was a difference until now .

Well as far as I know, there aren't any submods that use the acronym BYZ

RR/RC includes 6.2 so you dont need to install 6.2 separately. In fact it's probably best to just install 6.0, then 6.1 and then the latest RR/RC release.

That is what I did, but then I used the RR/RC patch. And excuse my confusion with BYZ and BYG.....Im just stupid. Hehe.

Did you install the latest version and the Feb 20th patch?

Yes that would be it, the Feb 20th patch. Could it be RAM related? I'm not running anything top notch, or even middle notch for that. Though I could run SS before I got the RR/RC...

Did you install both the main part and the Feb 20th patch of RR?

I'm not sure if it is related but there are some problems with the 20th patch, might be worth waiting for an update or using a previous version.

I'll take the blame for the confusion. I started the 'Byz' because I couldn't spell Byzantinnes. (still can't)
Is CBUR and Basilia ton Romario the same thing?

Yes they are. CBURP (Complete Byzantine Roster Project) is the team that created the Basiliea ton Romaion submod.

You can't just blame yourself Wolfe. I too never spelled out Byzantines and would only use Byz, as I hate to take the time to get the full word in Hehe.

On a side note shouldn't spelled be spelt? lol
