Whenever I start the game via the shortcut I get an error message that says something like: "Error in line 1069. Invalid unit type "roman infantry auxilary"." Then it crashes.

What version do you have? 3.4+hotfix?
Yes. I just downloaded it today. Version 3.4 with hotfix and culture shock add-on.
The culture shock add-on is _not_ upgraded to 3.4.x yet.

Oh. That would be the problem. Thanks.![]()
Oh. and is there a way to just uninstall the culture-shock?
Remove the ExRM folder and reinstall, I guess (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Yeah, I think you'll need to reinstall the ExRM. Technically you don't have to (you can just replace all of the replaced files), but unless you have some familiarity with modding this way might be easier.

I have a problem of my own, so instead of starting a new thread I'll say it here. When ever I try to start a campaign/ battle, nothing will appear to happen and the program will return to the previous screen. When I close the program, I get the message
script error in ExTW/data/world/maps/base/descr_regions.txt at line 234 column 5
cant find settlement name apameia in string table
I tried reinstalling the mod twice, but to avail
-worth mentioning I'm modding this on the steam version
any help appreciated as this mod looks excellent
Welcome to the forum!
A stringtable error? Interesting. Don't see those often.
I commend these Steam-related threads to your attention:

I recommend giving those a try and, if that doesn't work, post a detailed explanation of how you install and run the game. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it, though.

Thanks but nothing on there seemed to help, so I'll go into how I installed.
1. Downloaded from site. From there, installed to directory C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold. At this spot the folder ExRM was made successfully.
2. Modified RTW launch properties to say "-nm -show_err -mod:ExRM" (w/o parenthesis).
When I start the game, it works fine until the script error. Historical battles do not work either, but custom ones do.
Question on the mod itself; with the 4 turns per year, are building times longer? I think the answer is yes, but haven't been able to see myself.

I had one of these yesterday, didn't repeat... really weird. Steam user also.
Steer clear of the latin voicemod btw I had to reinstall (I put my ctd down to that maybe I was wrong and it's something else).
EDIT My occasional CTD caused by the "Detailed Unit Shadows" option in the Advanced Video Options in case that is useful to anyone

Yes, build times are longer in the ExRM, but I don't believe they are in the basic 4tpy mod unless it was changed in the most recent version.
Hmmm. What version are you running, and which exe?

It is version 3.4, and how do I find the exe, cause I'm not the best computer person...
Quick tangent as it seems to be fit the general tone: I am running RTRPE 1.9 without BI. Do i need to have BI to download Extended Realism? Cheers S
Yes, ExRM needs BI.
And you should have the mod-switch version of PE, otherwose it won't work.
Not sure. I meant, did you install the patches for it? I guess you must have, if it's Steam. I don't have the Steam version, so I can't really test solutions for you. Is it possible the folder needs to be installed differently?
No and no. The ExRM can run off the RTW exe, though not as well. There are instructions in the download post.
And you do _not_ need to have RTR-PE installed. The ExRM includes all of RTR-PE.

Oh, I didn't know that it could also work with RTW.
What I meant to say with the second line , is that he should not have the non-modswitch version of PE, otherwise he has to reinstall.
