    Icon5 Screenshots?

So I have been working on trying to write an AAR. Im likeing how the writeing is going but I cant get pictures on it.

So how do I take screenshots?
Where do I find them after I take them?

My computer is to slow to download any picture taking software so I have to use the quick key on the keyboard. I dont know what key it is though.

Anypne know what I have to do?

There was a program that allows you to save a screenshot pressing a button... wasn't it Fraps (or is it only FPS rating lol?)?

Anyways, you'll need some software that allows you to take screenshots and save it in some kind of map. You will be able to designate which button and where the pics will be stored. Also be sure to resize in the AAR - most of times you won't need a lot of the stuff showed on the screen (for example, if you only want to show your empire on the little map)

prt scrn works. But it saves them in a weird file.

You can buy fraps for 40 dollars for really high quality photo and movie making.

If you get the trial, it saves them as lower quality but it still works.

Somewhere in the Medieval 2 folder. I think they're called TGAs.

And fraps shouldn't slow your computer down unless you're recording.

mmm... ok. First, start the game. Then pause it when you see what you need and press that button (Prt Scrn). At this point, that what you see on your screen will be saved in computers memory. Whitch you can then put in to paint with Ctrl + V. I hope I made it clearer.

or you can get Infranview and it will save it in Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War\tgas and you can just crop it by holding your mouse and dragging it over the area you want to see and then press ctrl+Y.

And yes I did see you said it will take ages to download but it took like a second or something for me (I think)

Uhmm Archer9 you can take a screenshot like that, but the problem is you can't get to Windows during any time in the game (well for me it doesn't). That means if you want to make an AAR it'll be screenshot, shut game down, start up, screenshot, shut game down, etc.

Nope. All I do is simply press Ctrl + Alt + Delete. It minimizes the game and brings me to desktop.

That's why it's better to use a program (like FRAPS) or not make an AAR at all...
even alt+ctrl+del, ctrl+v in paint, save file is a tedious job...
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

Well, you are absolutely right. I have FRAPS too, but I rarely use it for screenshots. Because mostly I need just one certain screenshot. And in that case Prt Scrn is better. As for making AAR, FRAPS would be a better solution. And as I am planing to do one myself, I might use it.

as long as your computer is half-decent you print-screen then you can hit alt-TAB to switch programs (minimize M2TW) while still running smoothly (thats the big test, On a lot of computers that my buddies use this makes their computer sooooooooo slow) and quickly open paint, save and then start playng again. I do this method, I also have fraps, but I like this better.

I just press Print Screen, and after I'm done playing, load up the trust "My Computer", navigate to the Medieval II Total War directory, and look for the folder TGAs, or thereabouts. here, I find the pictures, and I just load up Photoshop, pop 'em in, crop what I want and save as a JPEG for size issues.

That's by far the simplest way. You don't even need Photoshop, Paint.net will do.
    Tis but a scratch.
