Irish: What gives you the right to determine how people dress?

Isn't freedom of expression an important right in the West?

I'm merely expressing an opinion myself.

I wouldn't ban the hijab (except in schools).
I just find it sad when women feel it necessary to demean themselves in such a way.

Freedom of expression mainly refers to political expression, mind you.
Freedom of expression is neither a freedom of prejudice or freedom to do whatever you want.

The entire hijab/burqa debate is rather... ironic.

''We're going to defend women's right from the oppressive Islamist laws

...by banning certain items of clothing, which they cannot wear, no matter how much they want to.''

I've never understood the issue. Just let them wear the damn thing. It's a ing rag that a lot of them want to wear. Ban it from certain jobs but let them walk with it.

In view of our divine essence, we need only liberty and work; in view of our mortal nature, we need for our direction a guide and a support. What do you have to offer a smart woman? Intelligent conversation? .

And why so anti-whore? Who made more extensive use of whores throughout history than Ottoman Sultans? What other Empire in history was ever run by whores (Sultanate of women)? What other Empire in history had such a powerful administrative position (Grand Vizier) specifically because the Emperors were too busy with whores?

    Oh the bitter irony...

No, you guys love your whores but are so insecure in your manhood you treat them like dirt so they don't have the self-worth to leave you and you hide them away so they don't have the opportunity to meet a real man and leave you.

All great men treat women as equals, it's out of the fear that they will discover your obvious inadequacy that you treat them below you, just like a schoolyard bully. The simple psychology of simple minds. .

I wrote in these pages in January that we cannot bully people into feeling British: we have to inspire them.

First, a concerted attack on racism and soft bigotry.

I concur he considers himself of Pakistani ethnicity. You yourself put your country third, after family, and god.
