I haven't played this mod and probably never will, but after reading some previews and threads here, I bow before the evident amount of work that has been put into this, as well as before the dedication and skill of the creators. I especially like the fact that it is
not based on Peter Jackson's movies. I love the movies, but a good own creation is preferable to a good copy.
The only things that make me frown a little are the old strat map, and the lack of 'magic', which I associate with Middle-Earth. But this has been discussed often enough, so no need to expand on it.
edit: Oh, and the lack of decent previews, with detailed information about new units, buildings and other features is a bit annoying as well.
Also, there's one little detail I have been thinking about. It was a clever move to have a new gondorian civil war, but I think it would have been better if the line between good and evil wasn't as clear as it is, with the cult thing and all. Had the civil war resulted from opposed good intentions and badly chosen words, so that it wouldn't be appearant who's right and who's not (not even to the player), that would have made for a far better civil war. All the old allies would watch in shock as Gondor tears itself apart, unsure which side to support, and even when one side finally emerges victorious, Gondor's relations with Rohan, Arnor etc would never be the same again (phew, the lengths you have to go to in order to make the actions of dumb old RTW AI believable...

)
But to make a long story short, I'm glad FATW exists.
