Quick question

Hi, I just got this mod and I'm liking it so far, I'm playing as Portugal at the moment and I'm at war with the moors. I barely have enough money to defend my borders from the moors, what I'm scared of is Spain. They are directly north of me, I have an alliance/trade rights with them. Will they just randomly attack me like they would in vanilla? I know this mod fixes the AI but I'm just making sure, because if Spain decides to attack me I pretty much lost.

The AI backstabs a LOT less in SS than in vanilla. You should (should being the operative word here) be safe so long as you keep them on your good side...and the pope's!

I basically treated the egyptians as gods to prevent them from backstabbing me. But, eventually they did and i would have been at a loss if it was not for the skythikon missile cavalry. Half stack killing off 2000 egyptians time after time. Nothing like rounding them up in a small ball then leading them out leaving their behinds fit for a horse.

But my point is no matter how much you try to keep them pleased. Expect them to backstab you.

Patch 6.2 Byzantine Empire, VH/H.

Hungary, sicily, venice, moors, egyptians.. whats next. One of the most interesting factions i've tried as of yet. Constant pressure to keep your regions/borders clean of enemies. Still some get through. Not to mention the constant flood of imams and priests.

That's because you are running 6.2. In 6.1 there are a lot less backstabs.

None, in my experience, even with abysmal relations.

I allied with Denmark, when playing as Norway in about the first three turns of the game, and for the whole game they did not backstab me. I also had an ally in Hungary for 250 turns and same again. You need to keep them sweet:
1. Don't stray onto their land.
2. Regular gifts of money, does not have to be alot, say 200-300 florins a turn for 4 turns
3. Keep them informed give them Map Info
4. Help them fight their enemies.

You will not get their loyalty if you do not give them something in return

6.1 havn't had 1 who backstabbed me
you should be safe form spain

Vannila was just nuts they allies will attack even if you have double the military power and they have 1 settlement xD

6.2 sounds wrong then, if you treat you allies as gods they still attack?
i havn't tried it yet so don't really know

Well i gave them 500 up to 1500 florins depending on how much i had every turn. I helped them annihilate the moors. I gave them map info and I was never on their land. But, in the end they backstabbed me.

I think its because they are the highest ranked people atm. When i took a screenshot to show the progress to a friend of mine i wanted to see how many full stacks they had. They had over 15. All coming towards me as they are allied with the kwarizmian empire.

So far my half stack of skythikon have killed off 5 of them with no problem. I'll make them regret backstabbing me and make them one of my vassals.
