    Default Some information about reinforcements.

I've seen alot of questions about how reinforcements will work in the game, and I managed to find a piece of text explaining some of it, to make it clearer for us who don't really know how it will work. Not sure if this has already been on the forums, or confirmed by CA, but if anyone missed it i.e myself and people still wondering how it will work, here is the line:

"{arrow_L_Tooltip_220010} Shuffle unit||Move the selected unit towards front of reinforcement queue.||Units at the front of the reinforcement queue will be the first brought into battle.||There is a maximum of twenty units allowed in battle at one time, so you may want to have the strongest units at the front of the queue. "

So, there will be a reinforcement queue that you can manually manage, and only 40 units can be on one battlefield at a time, to make it easier you can shuffle a unit to the top of the queue, letting it in first when another unit dies (or possibly routs?).

The line is taken from ui.txt, which is a collection of all buttons, tooltips, advices, all other text that appears on the UI in the campaign or in battle.

Huh? didnt we talk about Empire not having that so annoying (not imo) unit limitation?

sounds like the same system used in the original medival game.I would have preferred a tweaked version of the kingdoms re-inforcents system.I know it wasnt perfect but at least you could have your re-inforcements on the field en-mass as opposed to drip fed in.

Yeah, in all honesty I feel a bit let down by this. I'm certain, in time it will be fixed in some manner, but seriously, is it too much to ask for something like that out of the box?

Yeah... what I used to do was manually route as many of my heavily damaged units as I could risk, so as to allow bringing in multiple fresh units at once. I also tried to fight near the edge of the map to reduce reinforcement travel time.

So wait, how will multiplayer battles work? Say a friend and I are allied and fighting one force. Does one of us have to wait our turn, or say, only have half our units in at the start of a fight or will it just auto resolve the fight?

Or, if we can have both our armies on and were fighting two enemy armies at once, do the enemies only get one army at a time? Sounds rather easy if you ask me...

Id assume that you can use multiple armies at once in MP because technically you are different factions, yet allied. This is about your own reinforcements if I understand it correctly.

    Ah yeah, makes sense.

That's quite disappointing. So how does and allied army that is very near an army of ours contribute to a battle? I guess it will be a completely seperate battle after the first one is completed.

Sorry i dont understand well, on the game we have ONLY 40 units in same time (Me and the ennemi) MAXIMUM on the battle field ? Not with or without reinforcement. If it that PFFFFF NOOOOOO it's a pity if i have a big PC for more units what i do ? Or maybe change units size for 300 to 500 soldiers per units, It's ok, but if not possible to change units size, so i m sooooo sad.

Double post cause i cant make space sentences. Sorry. It's very bad to have one units by one units for reinforcement, we cant use good tactic with that. Ok i rout this one for wait this one.... OMG, no i route the new arrival unit quickly because they dont work good for the new ennemi units arriving in same time from reinforcement allied... SO BADDD and unplayble.

I believe it's 20 units per side, sounds like.

So, if my buddy and I play, he can have 20, I can have 20 and the computer AI were fighting can have 20 on screen at once.

    Maybe, I don't know...

Yes, I just think it's 20 per side.

It would be silly that you Allies would have yo wait when you and an AI ally attack someone.

This is really stupid, the Kingdoms system was superior. And already proven with the demo is that you can hack the game to allow more units- its just the UI doesn't support the cards. Ideally a nice hack that allowed you to pile as many units as you need would be far far better than this completely redundant system- when CLEARLY the engine can handle it as proven by stress tests on the demo.

I have no idea why they put hard limits on it again. That IMO is really stupid- Perhaps I may have the need for 20+ units at a time? did they ever consider that maybe waiting for wave after wave of forces is rather inaccurate and unrealistic- that instead a huge mass of 20,000 people on both sides would be just as accurate lol. This also annoyed me with Rome as well, I mean the desire to create a true to life Alexander Phalanx wall was just not possible in Rome- The Palanx would be so long that you'd have to be stupid to try and flank it- ideally I'd love to apply that same trick in Empire- just keep piling on units to give myself an insanely huge advantage. Further more didn't you just hate the "Reinforcements Delayed" screen.

I hope someone can in time create a mod that tricks the reinforcement system to allow 40+ units using the already existing demo hack that was proven to work- I don't even use the card system so I don't care about the UI that much.

I think it'd be just amazing to see a battle where nearly all corners of the map had some kind of fighting going on, it'd be much more truer for the period given the spread of battles in the time. Plus I was kinda drooling at the idea of having 20+ Naval battles for true chaos.

I don't get why CA insists on doing this to us- don't limit the engine.. go crazy!

Reinforcements to your post are delayed due to CA's fear of limiting the engine...

So they add in limitations for fear of there being limitations?

Don't think I'm following you on this one...:hmmm:

I'm saying I agree with what you're saying and I'm also saying that CA's fear of making it wrong, limited engine, actually limits the fun and the gameplay.

Edit: I hated when the other armies just stood outside the battle map and waited for some units of mine to become extinct.
Sometimes, the enemy routers ran right through them. NOBODY MOVED A MUSCLE TO KILL/ CAPTURE THEM!
    That annoyed me as hell.
