Graphics go crazy

Alright folks, I require some much needed help. The game starts and works, but the problem is everything keeps flashing and 'twitching' I guess you could call it, with random numbers and letters popping up. I've messed around with the graphics settings and nothing works, it just keeps being messed up. I tried to take a screenie but everything would look OK when I took it . So, what can be done? If it helps, I bought and downloaded the gamersgate.com Gold Edition. My graphic cards, etc.. are up to date-ish, or should be compared to when this game came out which makes me even more frustrated. It's a vista, so i'm sure that factors in somehow. If anyone has ANY idea on how to fix this, please let me know! It took 43 hours to download it, so imagine my disappointment only 45 minutes ago when it did not work!

How much did you pay for it? What else was the computer doing for those 43 hours? Have you tied minimum resolution with everything else minimum or off?

Minimal internet work and a bit of gameplaying. Could that really affect it?

43 hours sounds like a 56k modem. Just an observation.

Your game playing could have something to do with it as the download and the games share the same ram and harddrive. To be honest in my years of computers, Windows does a poor job of keeping them seperate. I have had corrupted files and downloads from trying to multitask.

Have you tried setting your refresh rate? On some monitors, the only thing in games they understand is 60hz or get your flicker.

Yup, you've got the modem correct...

Really? Well, I'll uninstall it and re-do it. But, I'll check the refresh rate tommorow first to see if that works. Thanks for your help!

Alright, I checked the refresh rate and it's normal, so it looks like I'll be re-downloading. Thanks for the help!
