Default Iran blinds man found guilty for acid throw

For anyone who may be faint click the link above at your own risk. The Link above has an image of the woman after the attack.

Wasnt sure if this was already posted but I first heard about this on the radio.

A jealous lover who blinded a woman with acid is also to be blinded with acid under the country's Islamic law.
A 27-year-old named only as Majid confessed to attacking Amenah Bahrami in 2004 to dissuade anyone from marrying the woman he loved.
Wednesday's ruling was issued based on the Islamic law system of 'qisas,' or eye for an eye retribution.
The reports say Ameneh asked the court to sentence Majid, who was only identified by his first name, to be blinded by acid to prevent similar attacks on other women.
Majid is allowed to appeal the verdict.
Elsewhere, Iran hanged 10 people in a Tehran jail, all of them convicted of murder. The executions are the latest in a series that have drawn criticism from rights groups.

It said one of those executed at Tehran's Evin prison was a woman who killed her husband in 2001 and cut him into pieces.

'They were hanged after their sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court,' Fars News Agency said, quoting judiciary sources.

Murder, adultery, rape, armed robbery, apostasy and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Iran's sharia law, practised since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Rights groups and European governments have criticised Iran for an increase in the number of hangings since authorities launched a clampdown on 'immoral behaviour' in July 2007.

Iran dismisses accusations of abuses, insisting it is implementing Islamic law and accusing Western governments of carrying out rights abuses themselves.

Amnesty International said in April that Iran had executed at least 317 people last year, trailing only China, which carried out 470 death sentences.

Yeah the same man who thought the world should just lay down and just take it from Hitler instead of fighting back. Sometimes an eye does require an eye (here is debatable) but Gandhi's nonviolence views were to the point of absurdity.

Um cheer good for India but someone is trying to apply his "wisdom" outside of India which doesnt work. How well do you think Ghandi's pov would have worked if Indians were being slaughtered by the millions? You think many would put much stock in his non violence approach? That was Ghandi's problem, he seemed to think his nonviolence views applied to every situtation and it doesnt, in fact in alot of situtations it outright stupid. That is the folly of Ghandi and his so called wisdom.

This applies to any countries "great" influences btw not just Ghandi, Thomas Paine probably would have ended up with a bullet in the head in many countries for example and someone like MLK would probably rotted in prison in others. What works for one doesnt mean it works for another and Ghandi unfortunately wasnt smart enough to realize this.

    Proof or nothing.
Well he didnt quite say that but:

Hitler killed five million [sic] Jews. It is the greatest crime of our time. But the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher's knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliffs. It would have aroused the world and the people of Germany. As it is they succumbed anyway in their millions.
It is an idiotic quote on his part...aroused them to do what engage in nonviolent protest? In the end millions of jews DID die so a few million more should have as well? Of course he also suggested Brits should have let the Nazis in their country if need be allow themselves, woman and children to be slaughtered rather then fight them.

I just said that it's not a good way to solve WW2 and Hitler(other post), but there are Other conflicts out there that doesn't involve killing of the millions and total-war across the globe. Riots in Greece when the kid was presumed killed by a cop. Yea, going out and burning cars isn't that good for plan A.

Although Id rather see the guy shot in order to make an example out of him but this will still do.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of women in Iran are treated horribly by men and this woman wants this treatment to end.

She refused the blood money btw.

I mean, seriously now. He blinds a woman by attacking her with acid, to dissuade anyone else from loving the woman he loves?

    How screwed up is that?

That's the country where women can get killed if they loose their virginity too soon and to the wrong guy? Well, acid-punishment is totally normal now, if i think of it.

A barbaric act and I'm happy that he will actually get punished which is refreshing to hear since usually it's the women that is punished.
Not sure about the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth tho.
A horrible punishment to get but atleast he will feel the same pain as she did and will be disgraced for the rest of his life.
    So yeah, justice served.

That's real love, man. Real love.

Forgiveness doesn't mean that there isn't any punishment, you know.
