Default Is it wrong to be a pacifist?

I, am a pacifist, I hate any act of violence, war, fighting, you name it. I don't see how war can be glorified, how millions of men risk their life for some fat guy behind a desk, all the horrors that war brings. I don't see the point in fighting for some turf, for a girl, for honour or whatever. If some country tries to invade Belgium, (yet again)(will never happen, that's not my point), I'd just laugh, and continue doing what i do. I also don't see how people can cheer when there's a war, how people can say "lets just bomb the out of that place". What i really find anoying is that when you are a pacifist people say you are a hippy, a tree hugger of some sort.

Is there anyone on the forums just like me?

PS. I know i play TW games, so that makes me some kind of a hypocrit, sorry for this

In theory it would be a good thing to be, providing everyone else in the world was also the same way.

If you saw a man kicking and punching an elderly woman would you just walk on by and leave him to it? Seeing as you yourself wouldn't be able to get involved in anything hostile.

if that mainly happens to you in this forum dont think about it.

a huge portion of ppl in here are screwed up mentally or kids without a big picture - just look at many thread titles

that was a bundeswehr question for ppl who didnt want to join when i was 18

acually there are plenty of options beside "i pick up a stone and beat the ill doer with it until i can see some brain"

    things like "calling the police"
trying to talk to the man and get him to stop beating
finding out what the fuzz is all about
threatten the man to stopp beating the women
making a joke about the size of his dick
    taking pictures
playing "eye of the tiger" on your ipod ...

Say you're waiting for the police to arrive and you've tried talking to him and he's still doing it. Do you sit there and watch?

pacifism is wrong in they way you need to defend yourself and the innocent if you are capable the same way people should help you if your in trouble but not capable of defending yourself.

you say if someone invades you will just laugh and continue in what you do but what if they invade to kill you and your family will you just stand there and die or will you take up arms to defend your loved ones.

    Malcolm X pacifism maybe...

I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don't believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn't want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn't know how to return the treatment.

There is nothing in our book, the Qur'an, that teaches us to suffer peacefully. Our religion teaches us to be intelligent. Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone lays a hand on you, send him to the cemetery. That's a good religion.
Up to interpretation of what "lays a hand on you" can mean.
    But mark me well; Religion is my name;
An angel once: but now a fury grown,
Too often talked of, but too little known.

Pacifism is realistic in the West. Don't buy that dog eat dog crap.

Gandhi used it brilliantly in the West, as did Martin Luther King.

This. Anyone who says pacifism is useless or impractical can't see far enough past the mire.

pacifism isn't wrong, it's just kind of naive.

Pacifism is ridiculous and stupid, you can't stop a crazy dictator or some violent people from murdering hunderds of thousands of other people by having a little peaceful sit-in or a long line of demonstrants carrying lights somewhere in N.Y., London, Paris or Berlin. That's just not the way how the world works and never will. Period.

It would be nice, but one must be able to defend oneself. If you don't defend yourself, or your country under attack, it can be seen as morally reprehensible if not resisting results in the destruction of not only your culture, but many innocent people. Sometimes, I think, war is necessary to prevent more war.

Being a pacifist is a personal choice, and I can understand it.

Pacifism however can often be illogical depending on circumstances, by which I mean sometimes we are required to fight in order to preserve and protect our liberties and families. If this were a perfect world, I'm sure we would all be pacifists, as we would never have to fight.

Having said that, the world is not perfect, and people do try unfortunately, often through violence, try to dominate and kill others, and as a result we must be willing to fight in order to protect ourselves, our families, our societies, and the freedoms they allow us.

As far as I can tell, your entire enterprise is little more than a solitary man with a messy apartment which may or may not contain a chicken.

It's all fun and games until people start getting eaten
