"We will rebuild, we will recover, and the United States of America will emerge stronger than before,"
- Prophet Obama
"When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion." -- Robert Pirsig
"Feminists are silent when the bills arrive." -- Aetius
"Women have made a pact with the devil in return for the promise of exquisite beauty, their window to this world of lavish male attention is woefully brief." -- Some Guy
You actually believe that? He's makes our economy worse every time he passes those stimulus bills.
On the other hand, the Republican Response was dead on.
"oooh a gypsy wind is blowing warm tonight, sky is starlit and the time is right. Now you're telling me you have to go...before you do there's something you should know." - Bob Seger
Freedom is the distance between church and state.
I don't believe I said that. What I did say was that yours (and the Republican's) take on the stimulus is not what the majority of Americans think of it.
So go right ahead and continue to try and climb uphill against what the will of the people (the majority anyway). How well that works in future elections remains to be seen, but usually elections are won by the most votes.

You would be wrong on that. CNN has support for the stimulus at 51%, hardly a clear majority, and thats a 12 point drop.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/06/stimulus.polls/
Now that poll was reported on February 6th. Fox News had it at 52%, well within the margin of error, so I would say they are both right on target.
I didnt watch the Republican response, it was predictable. But I will give my take on it as a hard core conservative.
He gives a good speech, and always has. I would agree with him on the accountability and procurement oversight. the problem is that people have been saying that for years, and its never been done.
But what I REALLY noticed were the lines like "We are going to create the biggest pool of credit ever drafted" and all the money he wants to dump into this program and that program. He gave pretty good details on how that would work, but when he mentioned actual cuts there were no details at all. He said "Any federal program that doesnt work" would be eliminated. Well that would be nearly all of them. Its worded like that so he has wiggle room to define what works and what doesnt.
But the biggest problem I see is retarting the class envy. Anyone making over 250k will have their taxes increased. I have always and will always hate that mentality. They use words like equality and fair then completely throw them out the window with tax policy.
Everyone should be treated equally in taxes as well. A guy that makes more than 250k uses far less government resources, yet is expected to pay for someone else. Its complete crap.
This is about the only thing I got out of the speech.

Worthless... no of course not. We need to hear more from the Republicans than the same ole, same ole they've been spouting for years tho. The worlds changed, the markets changed. Greed, graft and corruption are rampent and old wornout slogans like "let the market work" dont cut it anymore.
Same holds true with old "Tax&Spend" Dems. They have to adjust as well. I didnt vote for the Dems, I voted for Obama because I see him as the best agent to lead us into this new century. As much as I admire McCain(tho his helicoptor thing the other day was stupid) economically he just isnt equiped to deal with whats happening. To be honest I'm not sure Obama.. or anyone else is either. But he's intelligent and thoughtful..
Or maybe we can go the Limbaugh "I hope he fails" plan..... yeah, real good that one.
You guys have a President with a positive message, and the determination and ability to make things happen. Yet, you whine - do you not remember George W. Bush?
You as in the commentators here. I simply don't understand why having a President with a good message and a sense of purpose is a bad thing - all these immature perjoratives calling him 'Messiah' etc seems very premature to me.
I actually watched the whole thing. It was all fluff and no subtance.
