Default Why not one single mod?

Hello everyone! Before I start putting down my point of view I'd like to say sorry for my bad english and thank the entire IBFD team, you do a great work!
I recently thought about why I am not a IBFD fan to the bone, but rather a total fanboy of another mod. The strangest thing is that this other mod takes place much earlier than the migration period, which is actually by far my favorite era!
And after grinding my mind a while I sorted out that what kept me away from IBFD was the fact that there are 3 (soon4) IBFDs plus dozens of submods which hinders this nice project to give me a feeling of beeing "whole".
I think you are great modders and if you put your strength together you can create something even bigger than IBFD is today. You definetly have the skills!
Ok you may have to compromise on some points, but - HEY, thats what teamwork is about...
This is meant as a positive "push" into the right direction and no criticism in a negative way.

I don't mention the other mod intentionally because I want to avoid a unecessary flame war and I know you dont like mod comparisons in your forums although I presume most of you can guess which mod I personally would describe as the most professionally made mod for RTW.

All I wrote are just personal opinions,

    THX

Welcome ZiegenPeter and thanks for your kind words on IB. BTW, once I was a crazy fan of the classical Roman era and don't get me wrong, I still like it a lot until the day that just out of curiosity I decided to read a little about the Late Roman era just to understand better what happened to the glorious empire of the Principate and early empire. Then, it happened, I just got hooked up by waht I found out. Since then, my favourite era is the Late one .
Back to topic. The reason that IB is a series of mods and not just one is because of the dynamics of this particular time in history. During this time frame (IB's) the situations were volatile and almost impossible to predict sometimes. For instance, before the winter of 406 AD Gaul was safely under rule of the Empire, but in the same winter but at the beginning of the next year (407 AD) a wave of barbarians had invaded those territories and the political and strategical position of the imperial government was completely different. Likewise, in the 430s Aetius with help of the East Empire was about to invade Carthage that has been taken by the Vandals, but then the Huns attacked the East suddenly, that invasion had to be stopped and that changed perspectives sompletely. As you can see, it would be impossible to depict all those events in just one mod. That's why we have more than one and each of them are 'whole' in terms of the time they try to depict. During the late Republic, Principate and Early Empire, even though there were interesting events, the power and complete control of the Roman empire over the other nations was unquestionable. That is not the case of the Late Empire, where Rome was almost all the time on the edge of collapsing.
I hope this explains why we have the amount of mods that we have and counting .
BTW, there is no problems if you mention the mod you are a fan of. People here is very nice and don't start flame wars. It's not a secret to anybody, for instance, that I like Roma Surrectum a lot and that I'm a fan of their work even when I'm an IB developer

Thank you for your kind answer. I never wanted to suspect anyone to be a flamer, it's only because I had already problems when sking about some opinions. I think my question then will rather be, what is the most interesting ibfd-mod for germanic, especially the frankish faction?
    Greets and thanks

I would say RIOS at that time the franks are soon to be at there peak and in that one they have a very good uperhand.

As another example for why a single mod would not be the best way forward would be covering everything that could happen even in a fairly short span of time.

Lets look at the roughly 30 year period of history covered by Ammianus- During that time seven Emperors (Constantius II, Julian, Jovian, Valentinian I, Valens, Gratian and Theodosius I)were offically crowned; five of these emperors subsequently died (Constantius II, Julian, Jovian, Valentinian I and Valens), a number of usurpers appeared and were dealt with (Silvanius, Procopius etc); wars broke out from one end of the Empire to the other against the Allemanni, Quadi, Isurians, Sasanids, Goths, Picts etc.
It would be very difficult to model these events in a generic mod, much better dealt with by individual mods where more specific things could be done to model the events accurately.

Na, I rather have one hot girl than three old toothless *****es < Has nothing to do with IBFD

Is there Force Diplomacy for IBFD? Since In these days your enemies of yesterday were often your allies of tomorrow and vice versa, I'd like to have this feeling in IBFD too. But unfortunatly once your at war with the AI, it mostly means you have to eleminate them til the last child...
