Jack Straw issued a statement vetoing the release of minutes from a 2003 cabinet meeting regarding the war in Iraq, the shadow secretary supported the decision:
Tony Wright, chairman of the influential public administration select committee, argued that while he agreed with the principle of collective responsibility the value of the information tribunal's "external and independent arbitration" was being undermined by the veto.
He asked: "Won't this confirm people's beliefs… there is something in the minutes which needs to be hidden?"
What do you think?
Furthermore the return of a man presumably innocent considering his release, is the return of a man having spent 7 years held for being involved in the war on terror. He has said that he has been subjected to medieval torture methods including one that was taken direct from the spanish inquisition and there appears to evidence that questions and support was given by British Secret Services.
These events (should the second appear to accurate) to me signal a worrying confirmation of this governments actions over the last few years.
Thoughts?
