Default Does anyone here vote Green?

A Green party or ecologist party is a formally organized political party based on the principles of Green politics. These principles include environmentalism, reliance on grassroots democracy, nonviolence, and support for social justice causes, including those related to the rights of indigenous peoples, among others. "Greens" believe that these issues are inherently related to ecological, social, and human health.

Green Parties follow a coherent ideology that includes not only environmentalism, but also other concerns such as social justice, consensus decision-making, and pacifism. Greens believe that these issues are inherently related to one another. The best-known statement of Green values is the Four Pillars of the Green Party, adopted by the German Greens since their founding in 1979-1980.
I don't. Although I have met a fair few who do, and they are bloody zealous about it. Your views on this party?

No, thank you very much, a bit too spinelessly weak-sounding to me.

I like quite a few of the ideas of the british green party. Mainly those on decentralising and house of lords. Not too fussed about the enviroment though, tbh.

The Irish Green Party were the previous kingmakers in the Irish General Election in 2007. Have 2 Ministers in the cabinet, and a number of junior ministers. I think the realism of government shocked their ideals a bit but they seem to be recovering well and I say they could well be in a new coalition come next election.

If I was 18, I would've voted for them or Labour.

I vote on individuals, and once this has indeed been a member of a green party.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

Ireland's Green Party sold out to the scum of Irish Politics: Fianna Fail.
    Yes, that's right, Fianna FAIL.

That said, I would love to rejuvenate them and get the true Greens back via coalition with Labour...

Green party in Canada got nearly one million votes last election. However, I would never vote for them. They are fools, and I'm honestly not concerned about the environment. Hell, the leader of the party isnt even a true Canadian. They don't have any representation, and given that the economy/war will probably be the points of contention in the Future, they will probably return to being a non entity. At least for a few election cycles.

The UK green party are the party I am most likely to vote for. They are the only thing vaguely similar to a social democratic party in modern UK politics, and voting for them sends a clear message of support for environmental issues to the main political parties, which I wouldn't vote for if you paid me. I'm not a huge fan of parliamentary democracy (not democratic enough), but given that that's what I've got, I make the most of it and vote Green.

On this site I always vote green!

In all seriousness, though, I never have, personally.
Not that I wouldn't on principle, I never vote party unless I have no idea who the people are, in which case I hate to vote party lines.

No one in the green ticket has ever interested me, personally...
Not since I've been able to vote, anyway. There are a few who I would have voted for if I could have voted at the time. Now...

If by "green", you mean I vote for greenbacks then yes, I do vote Republican.

Republicans are the exact opposite of the Greens.
Drill some more? Ok, but when you're reliant on Russian oil and Europe isn't, who'll have the last laugh then?

I have voted green in Australian elections mostly as a message vote since I live in one of the safest seats in the country and the Labor party wins by over 15% of the vote. I agree with many of their polices and I think having them in the senate keeps the major parties honest so that is why I voted for them in the senate as well as the agreeing with many of their polices I just couldent bring myself to vote for the Howard clone or Howard.

I used to vote green, because I am convinced that we need to take better care of our environment and resources.

However, I've become very disillusioned because (and this is based on the German greens only):

    1. Their background is from petit-bourgeois / middle-class homes most of the time, and this shows in their disconcern for social justice and equality (never mind all their "gayness", they use that as a fig-leaf for pretending to be progressive; they are NOT red inside; in Switzerland, you have the Green-liberals, who don't give about the poor).

    2. They are fundamentalistically opposed to bio-technology, such as GMO, a stance I consider to be stupid (to put it mildly).

    3. They don't care about civil liberties (never strongly opposed the anti-terror laws from Schily and Schäuble).

    4. They blindly support anything related "saving the environment" without having a big picture or strategy. What good is it to waste all your effort and money and time to save some bloody bird that lives only in a very small habitat (referring to Airbus at Hamburg), while at the same time the consumption of land for housing and streets is a much bigger environmental problem?

In short: Nice try, bad execution.

in case anyone wondering what I vote now: Feel free to give me advice, because I'm lost :-)
"The cheapest form of pride however is national pride. For it reveals in the one thus afflicted the lack of individual qualities of which he could be proud, while he would not otherwise reach for what he shares with so many millions. He who possesses significant personal merits will rather recognise the defects of his own nation, as he has them constantly before his eyes, most clearly. But that poor blighter who has nothing in the world of which he can be proud, latches onto the last means of being proud, the nation to which he belongs to. Thus he recovers and is now in gratitude ready to defend with hands and feet all errors and follies which are its own."-- Arthur Schopenhauer

no help from here. i grew up in the 16 years "era kohl" and since i have the right to vote i voted spd (except last time coz i was in canada 2 years and i didnt to the letter vote pain in the arse)

but i think i cant vote spd anymore, there are few individuals left in the party that i can trust and look up to.

    so i am lost too

far right - not a option, voting is not a game
    csu - hell no
    spd - not anymore
green - doubt they have a concept that helps germany in a globalised world and a global crisis
fdp - hm maybe but i think they are skilled when it comes to economy but i doubt they have any interest in the working class / no social justice
die linke - all you hear here is social justice but i think it would kill many jobs if they rule

i guess i ll vote for deutsche biertrinkerpartei or s th - no seriously i dont like german politicians and politics anymore

on the topic: never voted green but i definately dont despise them and their goals - i just think they are to reckless about other topics then environment

Always voted SPD, but next time green.

Well, they did notice the emerging and succesful "Linke" and have widend their agenda on social issues allot.
    2. They are fundamentalistically opposed to bio-technology, such as GMO, a stance I consider to be stupid (to put it mildly).
Debatable, maybe they have watched to many bad movies.
    3. They don't care about civil liberties (never strongly opposed the anti-terror laws from Schily and Schäuble).
They did, and pretty succesful to.

All partys have shown bad management of certain situations.

    Just check out their site.

What for, examples of their bad management of certain situations?

Well, I might vote for them again, but not out of conviction anymore, but instead in order to choose the lesser evil.

What you just said: trying to exterminate one evil with a bigger one. Dont they all do that occasionally/all the time?
