Why wasn't this brought up when our economy was STRONG and we could actually afford to pay full benefit to US citizens and non-citizens alike? And 15,000 dollars? From a multi-billion dollar fund accrued over 60 years? Are you kidding me? Where'd rest of the money go? Why didn't we pay them sooner?

Ill agree its loooong over due, the promise was made and it should have been kept back then. While its meaningless now considering so few of them are alive today atleast *eventually* we did try and make amends. However, how or why this was in the stimulus bill is exactly the reason why the bill is a joke and a travesty.

The problem is this sum should have been paid back when

1. The guys were still alive
and
2. We could still afford it

Now it's just a half-assed attempt thrown in as part of a stimulus package at a time when we need to pinch every nickel.
