The best method for using heavy cavalry?

Hi All,

I find that I can handle infantry and projectile troops well with most factions.

HOWEVER, am struggling to cope with how to utilise knights and the like best.

Is it better to always charge couched (ALT along with mouse click)?

Should I set a target then a rally point using shift?

I always seem to suffer very heavy cavalry casualties so all help gratefully received!

Never atack in frontal charge spears or worse pikes.After charge dont stay in melee turn back and repet the step.Even gothic and lancers lose mans in a charge because anarchy, unlucky shoots and other things.Armor upgrades, exerience and general traits influence troops actions on battlefielde.I press atl than mouse on target.

I prefer to use infantry to hold the enemy line inplace then circle my heavy cavalry around and just charge them in the rear, they'll rout really fast that way and then the battle is yours

or you can get your own infantry to attack a minimal group of a unit fom a flank, then when their charge is gone and the formation they do when they await an attack is gone (called ready) your charge will seek smaller casulties and if you continue as 2# said by charing falling back and charging falling back and so on

and short... distraction of enemies make chargeing more effective

Use infantry of any kind to hold their main infantry in some form of line. Then, either charge directly into the side or rear of the enemy infantry. If you have a high dread general, they will rout pretty darn quickly.

If they don't, pull them out and immediately charge them again, or charge someplace else.

Rinse and repeat, you will not lose as long as your infantry line holds and as long as they don't have more heavy cavalry than you.

for me I use cavalry to circle around the back of my enemy while they are engaging my infantry and I use them to kill the enemy general. After that I just send them where ever the fighting is the thickest.
