    Default Can I change a unit's classification and function?

    Just a quick-question thread...

    Say I want the HRE's Reiters to be equipped with a lance and a sword, instead of the pistol and spear. I want the game to recognize them as heavy cavalry and not as missile cavalry. Can it be done by simply editing the text files for the units, or do I have to create a whole new unit from scratch?

    Go to export_descr_units. Maybe you can change it there.

    Basically what you need to do is delete the old Reiters entry in the export_descr_unit, then copy an existing entry for a type of knight that the Germans get, change the stats, and rename this new unit to Reiters.

    Ok, but will they still retain their "Reiters" model if I do that?

    Well, no, but if they do then they will still have a pistol and spear.

    You can't change the weapon a model uses without editing the model itself.
