i'm trying to get this to work. I finally got the new shadow to start but as soon as the screen pops up i get an error about the descr_event_images.
It says that the event string rebels_victorious is unknown
any ideas on how to fix this?

My BI is patched to 1.6 i just checked
gold edition is supposed to be fully patched but a week ago i had to patch it to play RS
so should i try reinstalling to mod anyway?
Did you install FATW to the same version of RTW that you installed RS to? RS is not modfoldered and will therefore change the original game files that FATW needs to run.
Edit: Too late...
Screenshots Competition! Win a Copy of Half-Life 2!
Vassal of gigagaia, Brother Knight to Professor420 & Jones King
yeah i made RS its own folder so thats ok
my comp cant open .rar files
is there anywhere i can download something that is free so .rar files will work?
Thanks!![]()
hopefully it will work now![]()
hmmm now im more confused then ever. I followed the instructions on fourthage.org for the .rar file and i thought i did it right but when i finished the shortcut started BI but the imperial campaign was moved under provicial campaign and then it was the vanilla non BI campaign. so i changed where the shortcut started at to the ci folder and it started up with a new error.
generic error
could not read file data\descr_startegy_lightning.txt
this is really frustrating me
i think i must have done something wrong so ill try again tommorow.
if anyone now wat i did wrong plz tell me!
ok now im trying again.
after the .rar file downloads should i extract the file to a different location then where i am going to have it to play or does that not matter?
in the installation instructions it says this
Copy (not drag/move/cut!) the *contents* (all sub-folders inside the bi folder; custom, data, preferences, replays, saves) of the bi folder into the new ci folder (not including the ci folder of course).
does this mean the sub-folders of the .rar file? because they only sub folder there is ci
I don't understand all these complications. What's that "installation procedure"? I just double-clicked the .exe file I downloaded from the FATW site, corrected the path (because I don't have a "creative assembley" or any videogame company-branded folders) which is hardly a procedure, and that's all. Everything was automatic. This .rar stuff sounds very complicated.
Also, the best way to make mods work is NOT to alter the vanilla files. From my exp. 90% of that kind of trouble (installing/launching mods) comes from alterated vanilla. As a longtime FATW player I can guarantee that the mod's files are not corrupted, missing or bugged. Note: I play with the very last version of TNS, but not with the WoM extension.
EDIT: ah yes talking about install: the music pack isn't included in the .exe and BI music is so horrible! You have to download a separate .exe and install it (double-click, no PhD needed). This music pack is very hard to find, I had to make a few google searches and the info about it is... very well hidden
That's the only flaw of this install.
The music pack is in the same post you download the mod from, I do not understand why people struggle to find it.
But I agree, "procedure" is a big word for what amounts to making sure the path is right and then just clicking
Some PCs do not like the installer software so the rAR is a useful backup, though this needs to be done manually, but it is not hard at all.
Yes, stay away from mods that overwrite vanilla files - the number of times people have had problems with getting FATW to work because they did not realize anothe rmod they installed was messing with their original files (even after the so-called "uninstall")...

Yes I knew that but I still wonder what are these problems with .exe files, never had problems on my PCs (and my 1st one was a 8086 from the 80's!) but I heard so much about that... any tech explanations? (PM please, lets not flood)
About the Music pack: well I confirm (with others as we chatted about it) that It's very hard to find when you don't know where It is. I know It sounds stupid but you guys know it (you did it) but for the rest of the world It's not that easy, and searching is boring. That's a web marketing/communication issue: the link is not (but should be) well-displayed, clear on its label, in front (1st DL page, not after 3 text paragraphs or in the corners), BIG, etc.
If I had such trouble finding it just as so many people, then there is a problem.
Why not putting it with the rest of the .exe or .rar install files? It worth it, musics are great. I play Harad, I noticed you took some from Med2 BC. Cool!
Note: that's also an answer/complement to MasterofNone post. Steadfastly Patron and Vassal to None & Bearing No Citizenship... I like thatkeep it up man!
Salam to all
Thx Pacha
I just looked back at the official post and the music pack is mentioned on the line immediately after the main download in a section named "download links" which sits immediately before the installation instructions. I really do not think it could be much clearer.

I was of course talking of the FATW website www.thefourthage.org that should be the central vault for this mod. Yes it's displayed in a thread somewhere in TWC. That is, for the main Internet user, not access-friendly.
Btw I found the WTC thread by using google and I'm hardly a beginner (+ I'm registered here) so imagine the main gamer.
It should be visible and clear on www.thefourthage.org DL page to be user-friendly. Locating it only on a thread of another web forum confuses the basic user and creates misunderstandings and "client" frustration.
I tell you all that because even if mods are free their success depend on a certain web marketing policy and comunication methods. FATW (you) is a very good example: your site rocks, very "pro" display, It could be marketed for real! The only flaw is about that music pack, who's great btw. But let's be relalistic it's still an excellent mod display.
I was referring to the opening announcement post of the release thread at the official site here:
http://www.thefourthage.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1775
If non-forum pages are not clear or updated then get on Apoc's (Amroth's) case!; all non-official site posts should really link to the main site as it is very cumbersome to update more than one site (which is hard enough!)
Apoc/Amroth is in charge of PR![]()
