Getting Lag around the French Region on Campaign Map

Do not know why it lags around there i have played this game for months and it is the first time it really bothered me.

Turn off campaign shadows. It did it for me.

turn campaign shadows off and don't have any city/army selected while you scroll around the map

For some reason my computer lags wherever my faction is on the campaign map. For example, if I play as Venice, it will lag around the Italian Peninsula, and won't lag around France. Yet if I play as France, it will lag there, but not in Venice. Don't know why, maybe it's just me.

Do you have the game set to not follow faction movements. If so the other factions are not needing to show movment on their turns. Maybe your laggy is simply the computer needing to translate decisions into graphic display. In that case -- what you are seeing is "normal".

My game has always lagged around France. It is all the forests there. They use of lots of virtual memory and detail in the shadows of all those trees. It's worse if I select a unit and the 'green blanket' comes up. Either try lowering your graphics settings or turning shadows off, but in my opinion that makes the game look
