    Default Regicide

I just came across a mission while playing as the Byzantine Empire called regicide,
I have never see this type of mission before and considering that I've been playing M2 for a long time I figure that it must be quite rare.

My question is weather any of you guys ever had this mission pop up and if its really that rare or just bad luck on my part.

It came up a bit before I patched and started playing the Retrofit Mod. do not know if it is the patch or the mod that makes the difference. Also I now play short campaigns. It may take more than 75 or so turns for an heir to want to get rid of an idiot ruler in a failing faction.

I don't know if it's through a mod to get this message, but I have got some of them too (in long campaigns). It's actually quite amusing/sad that an heir wants to kill his dad, and contact you about it. I don't think it's that rare, maybe in medieval times there was much hate in families.

It has nothing to with mods it part of vanilla m2tw. I've never had these missions before but they look nice. Just send a couple of assasins, get rid of the idiot that's currently king, and the other faction likes you alot more
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

I'm playing vanilla so its definatly not a mod.
Killed the guy but the stupid AI attacked me regardless hehe

If you only have an alliance because you need time to build up. If the Heir thinks his dad is crap, why kill him, it'll help you!

No, these aren't rare. These missions don't pop up until you have a high level assassin, so if you don't use them that much, that could be the reason you've never seen this mission before.

Actually I got this mission once after a crusade. I was playing as Venice, and to my knowledge, I had absolutely no assassins at the time. I had just completed a crusade and had Antioch when I spotted the Turkish faction leader casually strolling through my borders. The very next turn I got Regicide mission from his son. Since I was neutral to the Turks and the son promised me an alliance I figured it was win win. I get rid of a rival and get an ally in the part of the map where I were still weak. I also had a great sized army in that region of the map that I didn't really have the finances to support for too long. I thought what the hell and sent my army to kill him, wich I did, but then the guy ended up as my prisoner, so I hit the Execute button. Apparently that was a deal break however, so instead of rewarding me for getting rid of his dad, he now assumed the throne anyway and continued to wage the war against me that he himself had tricked me into starting. Soon enough Antioch was no longer mine after having dimished my forces with support from home being far away, hehe.

    The mission will expire

But the mission penalty doesn't make sense, I mean why would the king hate you if you don't kill him? Now it would make sense that if the king would die somewhere later and the same heir who gave you the mission will become the new king, that your relations would go down.

You're supposed to assasinate him ;-) Y'know, the subtle kind of way that nobody found out who did it?

Dear son couldn't really explain to his subjects why he allied with the guy who actually brutally executed his father in cold blood could he? Public relations...

    Feh, details :p

And I wouldn't mind if he put it like that, but rather what he did was tell me the mission was 'canceled' and that he no longer 'required' me to kill his father Was a humorous situation though, and it gave me a convenient excuse to stop playing my Venice game, since I wasn't really enjoying it :p

I usually just kill the Heir that gave me the mission and the mission expires. Why replace a poor leader with a megalomaniac who wants to bring glory to his kingdom? I don't think so.

Whenever I get a regicide mission, I assassinate (or kill in battle asap) the one who requested the mission.

Why? That takes the fun out of the game. I've only received this mission once when I was playing as France or HRE. Denmark's Heir wanted me to kill his Father so he could become King. I obliged him and was paid hansomely and had good relations with Denmark for years. There are advantages to carrying out this type of mission, just be sure that the Heir is not a ruthless tyrant bent on conquest and you will be the winner.

I don't think its that rare. I've gotten a couple of these missions. I think there might be certain requirements having to do with your relations with the faction and your overall power, as well as how many assassins you have.

It's not rare mission. The AI players often call upon me to regicide their kings in my every campaigns. I usually am at war with them and I have at least one assassin.
