how will Empire compare with mtw2 and kingdoms

my feeling is of course their will be advances in gameplay mechanics and perhaps graphic quality as well in Empire
but I think the time period it takes place in and the limited variety of factions will have the effect of "dumbing down" the total war game expirience I am still intrigued by what is possible in modding mtw2 and kingdoms willl probably of course try it out (my younger brother is in eager anticippation) but I am truly a loyal and serious mtw2 and kingdoms fan! I think that modding mtw2 and kingdoms will supply me with more gameplay excitement than Empire ever could! so the question is are you staying with the mtw2 and kingdoms garrison or mutineeing and joining the Empire force, for me I remain totally focused on mtw2 and kingdoms! I am new to the modding aspects of these games but I am learning quite quickly and am in production of my own total conversion mod for mtw2 on the kingdoms platform the mod will called :Claimants,heirs and conquerors and is based on the power struggles for the Pyrenees mountain range between 1100 and 1500 A.D. it will have six factions
two french
two spanish
one Italian
one islamic

I will probably still be addicted to mtw2 and kingdoms long after Empire has been around.!!!!

I'm going for Empire (Pre Ordered) but I will have to keep playing med 2, Coz I still have yet to play every faction properly.

Well I prefer the hack and slash and shiny armor, plus I'm into modding so M2TW is going to last me a while yet. I'll surely try out Empire, though I'm not too certain whether my computer is good enough for it.

That's nice mate , good luck for your mod , always nice to hear people working on enriching this great game

i hope you put the Basques and it would be cool to see the 2 Crusades against Albigenses in the Carcassone citadel featured , that could be really epic and really fun to be able to play as Albigenses , regards

I think Empire will be as good if not better than M2TW and M2TW: Kingdoms. I love both of these time periods.

The ai seems farrrrrr better and the campagin more invoilved so I think it will thump m2tw

I think I´ll play Empire as soon as I get it, but will keep M2TW, because it is cool too

, and some mods look really nice...

I believe Empire will trump Medieval II. If, as I suspect they will, CA wants to go back in time with the Empire engine, then they will have left remnants of medieval/ancient warfare to allow them to do so, and this will enable modders to bring it back to the earlier time periods if they so chose.

I'm interested to see how CA can pull this off well, what with the game arena seeming to be aimed more at FPS and RPG than Strategy.

Eh, I wasn't too impressed with Empire, and I think I'll stick with M2TW. Empire just seems like more of the same except everyone gets guns. In order to make 18th century warfare interesting there needs to be a lot more realism implemented.

so do i young_Scratch empire i not so good then we think.
i did play the demo, graphix it was not so good like my englisch typing.
the unit hasn't so verygood details
there are units who could place stakes right in front of your attack with horses.
and those stakes are white not brown.

I have it preordered so I'm definitely looking forward to it, but it by no means will be putting a stop to my M2TW play. Especially considering that I still haven't bought Kingdoms and that I'm VERY eagerly awaiting the Europa Barbarorum II mod. I missed out on Rome Total War, and this mod looks absolutely amazing.

the few times I've broken down and looked into empires info the only thing I see people talking about is the naval combat. /shrug ancient art of war at sea needed an update but that isn't the section of the game I'm interested in, I'm mostly just hoping people mod in med2 into it.

I think the strategic game will have more depth and interest in ETW but the tactical stuff will be a bit less good. I mean we are only talking about 100 years of history in ETW, with limited advances in weapons and technology, as compared to 450+ years for M2TW.

well it depends what you prefer. I enjoy all three time periods so it's win win for me. (even though my comp isn't good enough to run empire lol

oh well!) but it's just going to be an overall better game. bigger map, improved graphics, everything.
Rome and Medieval have their pros and cons, as Empire will too.

only been playing MTWII a few months (unlike the rest of you!!!) so got years of fun left! Will probably not buy Empire for a few months as my interest in history ends post-English Civil War so unless I hear from others how awesome Empire is may not even buy it at all!

I am looking forward to Empire although the demo did leave a bad taste in my mouth im sure the final release will be much better. I still play RTW and MTW2 and will for some time to come as I have just started reading about mods and such.

i cant wait for empire, from what i saw in that campaign AAR its going to be the best TW game ever, with better diplomacy and more options on the campaign map..

ill play m2tw to sometimes, probably try out new mods when they come out but thats about it

as for dumbing down, rtw and m2tw are already dumbed down, etw seems like progress
