I was wondering if this mod uses all the RTR files? In the installation instructions it simply says to install this mod, so does that mean that the RTR files are already contained within it, or it does not use them?

Also, I'm tired of all the pointless battles that tend to result in hundreds of autocalcs....does this mod improve the massive spam of small armies and allow for more important/crucial battles?

Although based on RTR, ExRM is self-contained in its own folder, so all the files are there. One of the features of ExRM, thanks to Quinn Inuit's tireless balancing of the game, is fewer armies and hence more decisive battles, and when they appear, better balanced and more varied armies. No more chrysaspide spam from the Seleucids, but a mix of heavy infantry, skirmishers, missiles and cavalry.

    Use your BI CD.

There are definitely fewer battles in this mod, and they're consequently more important. You won't be fielding many full-stack armies until a few hundred turns in.

Yea...I really like how that is. Care to explain why it is like that? My guess is unit prices/upkeep. I also really like how even after 30-40 + turns of building your economy you don't immediately have some massive income.

Lots of things: longer build times on buildings, higher unit costs, and higher upkeeps. We've been playing with a lot of variables to achieve desired outcomes.

I really enjoy these parts of the mod. It makes every decision you make, and every battle you fight, much more important.

I got a few questions too. Didn't want to post a new topic so I'll ask them here:

How can Germania recruit archers, either on horse or foot? If it can't recruit archers, what are the best ways to fight battles against the Sarmations, who have stacks of almost all archers?

If I start a campaign, before the next patch, as Bactria, and decide to go north, will this break the game and screw up the scripting? What about other factions like Parthia or Armenia attacking north? The Sarmations have scripts that spawn armies in Bactria. I dont want to break my game and get errors, or have to start a new campaign.

    Thanks

    That's cool. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I don't think you can, at least not without traveling great distances. You can also get Gallic slingers as an AOR unit, IIRC. Oh, and drop the range on the Sarmatian HA to 90 in export_descr_unit.txt. That will help.

You will definitely cause bizarre script results if you go north, though it won't CTD. The other factions can go north more safely, but they really shouldn't be. I wish I could make them stop. The Sarmatian script armies are meant to represent raiding horsemen, but that really isn't working. I guess I could make them part of the Slave faction.
