Default Help, No one is fleeing!

I don't know why, but i was playing fine for a few weeks, and now no units flee anymore..its really annoying cause the battle just turns into a massive slay fest. It's definetely not working.

I can surround a unit of peasents with a million people and they will just be steady. Every single unit is steady and eager no matter what. I don't know what i did to make this happen. I've tried reinstalling heaps.

Don't know what to do, any help appreciated..thankyou.

    Welcome to the forum!

Did u happen to play on medium battle difficulty? as misleading as it is medium is the difficulty that gives most casualties on the field because both sides are equal in morale. Also if the enemy is defending on a town square they will have infinite morale (they can't rout). Hope this helped...
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

Maybe you're playing in arcade mode?

Just tryed hard, charged a unit of peasent archers with my general and a unit of border horse. The peasent archers fought to the death, steady all the way to the last man.

    p.s. not playing arcade.

The fight was fought in open land, not in town square.

    thanks.

Also, if you completely surround a unit, it will not rout, but fight to the death.

Fighting to the death equals routing without the running in it.

Use better tactics? After your line has engaged theirs, send cavalry smashing into the rear. I can easily rout units on the Hard difficulty... maybe you have a glitch?

Would morale be a factor in medieval2.preference, if your's has it set to zero (0) then hardly any routing would occur would it not?. The morale should be set to 1 by default and this would have any peasants fleeing in panic after a charge by a cavalry unit, if it has been changed by mistake reset like thus.

    morale = 1

Check the unit cards. It'll display their morale "Poor Morale", <nothing indicates normal morale>, "Good Morale" or in a rare case "Excellent Morale".

You can take casualties when chasing routers but it is rare. Maybe you men get trampled by their own side.

They will fight to the death if the army cannot retreat on the campaign map, IIRC. There should be a "funny" little symbol in the upper right corner of the leader.

That's what it's supposed to be like, in reality however, they just stand there and at very seldom moments stab and swing a bit here but get blocked and killed not to mention that they usually rout within 10 seconds anyway.

Only missile fire can, when the enemy starts routing big time, I always make sure to turn off fire at will on my ranged troops and let the cavalry do the work.

Not necessarily, fighting to the death is exactly that. In my games, they do fight - and kill! But as soon as there's an opening they can escape from, they will instantly rout.

Agreed, this is the only way you can sustain casualties when the entire enemy army has routed. So make sure your archers, muskets and artillery stop firing.

I bet something's bugged there. Notice that mihalis said that he was playing normal some time before this happened.

Maybe it has something to do with any mods you could have installed recently?
