    Salvete omnes!

What is the mouse/keyboard control for rearranging the order of unit cards in a stack in the strategic map? I'm sure there must be a way to do it as it's something that drives me crazy but I haven't been able to find anything despite RTFM and ditto for numerous FAQs.

I'm glad to see RTW still has a strong following in these forums and apologise that my first post is a noob question.

I'm hoping that the answer will hit me like a facepalm.

I also have heard of a certain key combo to do it, but I don't know how. The next best thing is to pull units out of your army and put them back in in the order you like.

If you hold CTRL when selecting the units, then tell them to march somewhere, it should arrange them in the order selected. I've only had success when separating units from an army or a city, however.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

That's not quite what he means I think. What he's trying to say is how do you change the order that the unit cards are displayed, like you can do in custom/multiplayer battles when choosing your army. I haven't heard of such a key combination, but that might just be me ignorant of it...

Take 'em out, put 'em back in. Only way, as far as I know.

Aye, that's exactly what I do, and it doesn't really take much longer than pressing a few keys would. I actually do this too often...I'm a sucker for organization.

Me too. It helps me keep track of what I actually have in my armies if I have all the units of the same type together.

Thanks for the replies folks. I was certain there'd have to be key or mouse command for this basic piece of functionality. Ah well, I'll just stick with the good ol' in-out-in-out

Entropy Judge is correct though, the order you Ctrl-click 'em before marching somewhere is the order they'll be in when you arrive so I did learn something. Thanks.

why do u need to change the order of the unit cards? All it does is just that (rearrange the unit cards) doesnt change battle formations or deployment or anything like that, so why bother?
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Some people are picky, and need to group unit types. And it does affect autoresolve. You want to arrange your troops from heaviest infantry and going lighter down the row.
