Default Saxon battles and strategies - your thoughts

More 'hammer and anvil' style blitzkrieg... you just can't get enough

This shows how good Saxon Hearth are... admittedly with full exp. but still... a full army of Legio I Italica comitatenses against 2 units of Saxon Hearth! They won of course... the Saxons I mean! (custom battle)

2 burgundi armies converged on me... I formed a square.

Amazing... this is near Thermopylae and I managed to get above them and charge down... stupid AI!

How do you like those apples?

Seige assault - line men behind towers, on either side of bate - they crush the troops on the walls and let the cav. in the gates... simple yet SOO effective.

    Here we go!

Earlier in that battle... archers fire over shield wall - what defence!

Remember the cliff? This is me charging DOWN on them.

Don't turn away from me Ammianus! I want you to look at me when I kill you!

i should play the saxons. I always thought they sucked. by the way, how do ur troops get so much exp.? I usually use the same armies over and over too but they never get that much exp.
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

The trick is to attack AND then retrain constantly. Also, when the computer does AI battles, it often gets more exp. than you can yourself.

hmmm... ill have to try that. I only retrain garrison troops and severely undermanned units, so that could be it.
