I don't think this demonstrates any sort of statement between hinduism and their treatment of women. Most far-eastern cultures and religions are fair when it comes to equality between the sexes; there are plenty of examples in both Indian and Chinese history where women hold high political offices and share the same responsibility as men. If I recall my history right, during the time of the Maharajahs, Hindu women were allowed to enlist in the military.

I've seen educated blacks. I spoken to one who was a part of the civil rights movement 40 years ago. But the majority of my experiences in my neighborhood have merely reinforced this stereotype that was portrayed in the media by themselves. They don't want to be professors, teachers and hold a PHD, they want to be rap stars, drug dealers, and seen on MTV.
