Default What is the toughest possible campaign?

I can't make a poll because I know not all the options so I will ask people - what is in your opinion, the toughest cross-mod faction campaign you have played or you know of?

Late Era Kingdom of Jerusalem in Stainless Steel?
    Ireland in Stainless Steel?
    Kwarezm Shah in Broken Crescent?
    Markurians in Broken Crescent?
One of the Deus Lo Vault factions? (not played DLV but it sounds challenging)
Anyone holding Antioch when the Mongols arrive in Retrofit with the Grand Unit Addon?

    Any others? Many I'm sure.

Share your experiences, and i will go and play all of them.

Scotland on VH/VH makes a good campaign. I enjoy it

Scotland is quite easy. If you manage to destroy England, it becomes very easy. I find Byzantium quite hard. They have almost no gunpowder units, and they also get to fight mongols. (Vanilla.)

You guy's should have atleast written why they are hard, I will answer: Playing as the SCots the reason why it's so hard is because they do not have goos late period units and even in high their just on the limit to be useless IMO

Unless you have a pikemen-fix, then the best units your generals will be able to field is... highland nobles

    So I agree Rebel6666666666666666666666666666
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

No campaign on vanilla m2tw is hard and in what way is the khwarezmian empire in BC hard? Just swallow the Ghaznavids and Ghorids and you can beat the Mongols senseless.

Maybe you could try Oman in BC.

The Irish are by far the hardest, weak troops at the start and being blocked by the 2 british factions doesnt help.

    My list of tough challenges:
Play as Portugal on vh/vh without losing a settlement (mods are fine).
Play a saintly (good reputation) as Sicily on vh/vh on vanilla.
Late era Kingdom of Jerusalem in SS.
    Oman in BC.
    Ireland in SS.

Scotland can crush england early in the game just by sending large armies of their pikeman, swordsman and rabble at the english. Once you've secured the british isles, take out scandinavia and denmark, because their vikings are dangerous for your unit roster. After that, it shouldn't be difficult.

Definetly Irelannd in SS. They are outnumbered by England at the start and it's hard to conquer the isles.

I played both Irish and Scottish campaigns (got bored in both and never got past early period) but as far as taking the british isles I didnt think it was all that hard? I think I was playing H/VH on SS.

Complete the long campaign objectives in 20 turns or less. This is harder than anything anyone has posted yet, my Lord believes this is pretty much impossible.

Templars on SS and RR. You start surrounded, outnumbered and outclassed militarily.

    milan on vanilla Easy/Easy

if you can play a whole campaign without getting bored, you are either really bad at it, or really desperate to prove a point.

Yes that one , if you talk about stainless steel , i have 4.1 version , it's really hard indeed , if not close to impossible if you're not an ace of management , starting position is truly awful , poor Tortosa region , surrounded by sharks with the richest lands and most numerous armies , and then the Mongols followed by Timurids , now that's a real challenge

All you have to do as the templars is call crusade after crusade on egypt, then on the turks, then on the mongols, then on the byzantines, then on the timurids. It's every M2TW fan's dream: complete freedom from "You have been excommunicated" or "Cease hostilities with your fellow Christians" with all of the advantages of crusades and the awesome templars. I managed to get my faction leader up to 10 in all stats with no cheats on vh/vh by turn 25. I had also wiped out egypt by that time.

    Basic strategy:
    1. Expand North
    2. Call a crusade on Jerusalem.
    3. Destroy the Egyptians all the way to Jerusalem
    4. Consolidate, develop, train armies
    5. Call a crusade on Cairo
    6. Egypt is yours
    7. Attack the Turks and the Byzantines, and anyone else, it doesn't really matter, because you have a rich, developed, strong empire with a good reputation and good relation with the pope.

I ended up pulling this same stuff, but I dont think the difficulty was very hard. If you manage an alliance with the turks before the egyptians and carefully plan ahead when you'll need crusader back-up its alot easier.

That's some nice advice whitesoxfan , maybe i should give it another try , never managed to get allied with either Turks or Egypt and had huge problems at the very beggining , to fund crusades and invasion of Antioch while still getting access to better quality troops (no money to upgrade buildings , was extremely slow development compared to my neighbours ) , nevermind hold it , maybe i should try again but in normal difficulty mode
