    Default Comfortable Caesar?

What is the meaning of the titles that appear at the beginning of each faction in descr_strat? In vanilla, all factions say "balanced smith". However, in SS it varies, for example: England is a "trader henry" while France is a "balanced henry". Turks are a "balanced napoleon" and the pope is a "comfortable caesar".

I was going to come in here and say "Why yes I am comfortable thank you"

Those things determine what the AI faction will prioritise when they build buildings and recruit units.

The unit labels are (posted by PB):

Genghis – cavalry archers and light cavalry
Caesar – heavy infantry, light cavalry, and siege weapons
Napoleon – a mixed of light and heavy infantry, light cavalry
Mao – lots of light infantry
Stalin – lots of heavy infantry
    Smith – no preferences
Henry – light and heavy cavalry, long-range infantry (archers/slingers)

Not sure about the building ones though but I'm sure someone has posted them somewhere. The problem is that no-one quite knows to what extent these labels actually affect recruitment.

Hmmm, it's odd that they used leaders from time periods other than medieval.

Hmm... I was hoping it had something to do with behavior. What I really want is to cut the Pope's wings off. Anyone knows what is needed to make the Papal States a completely non-aggresive faction (such as the same in MTW1 or SPQR in RTW)?

Well, I always delete all their buildings and starting units in descr strat, remove their starting money and reduce their kings purse to 10 or something like that. Sometimes I also add some crippling traits to the pope to make sure he never really gets anything done.

At least not during the first few turns and until the crappy pope dies and a new one is elected, all neighbouring states tend to be strong enough to withstand an attack.

You could also increase the costs and/or reduce the stats of all units the papal states can build exclusively (like papal guard and stuff)

My pope is at war against Venice and I am in middle game. Yea, it seems the pope can get a lot of things done when he's unhappy! And yea, he just took venice.

Well Popes weren't that inactive during medieval period. By no way the Pope should be similar to SPQR faction from RTW. Papal States were very expansionist in Medieval Italy. The only thing that should be done is perhaps lower Pope's military might and make him able only to wage some small border-skirmish wars with Venice, Genoa and Sicily. Surely he doesn't have to be a mighty juggernaught that will overrun Italy and unify it, but he shouldn't be an idle idiot just waiting for someone to come in and nuke him.
